Citrin is a modern Californian cuisine restaurant by Chef Josiah Citrin. The attention to detail and pursuit of excellence that defined Josiah’s landmark Mélisse restaurant for 20 years thrives in this new space. Citrin is a fun, welcoming, and approachable experience. A large bar and a la Carte menu brings a fresh take on our love of hospitality and passion to deliver exciting and delicious food.
“This meal was among the most pleasant I have ever had. Every item on the menu looked interesting. The waitstaff was extremely well informed about every aspect of the food preparation, and was eager to share that knowledge. In truth, it really doesn't matter what you order (unless you have allergies), you will not be disappointed. We shared bites, and I can honestly say that I would have been equally ecstatic about my food no matter what I had chosen. The attention to detail in food preparation and presentation was obvious and appreciated. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, attentive without being over-present. They presented the impression of a unified team organized around a quality customer experience rather than making themselves appear to be "the expert". Every time we complimented anyone on what they knew or did, the response was invariably "all of us know the details about the food". They clearly all want to work here. The atmosphere was very pleasant, quiet with reasonably dim lighting. We stayed for three hours talking, so it was clearly a comfortable environment. I look forward to my next visit to Southern California, I will definitely visit Citrin.”
“Enjoyable Birthday dinner for my daughter. Parking wasn’t easy for us to find so we opted for valet which was friendly and fast. Service in the restaurant was friendly as well, extremely fast and attentive throughout most of the meal, but slowed down near the end. We did have to flag our server down and ask for more water and dessert, but again, the rest of the meal service was like a well-oiled machine. My daughter decided upon a few dishes (for the table) for her celebration: the filet, dirty chicken & lobster bolognese for mains…the scallop and bread for start. She also had espresso martinis, which she said were the best she’d had…and a soufflé for dessert. All of the food was fabulous. The filet cooked to perfection, melt in the mouth. The chicken was a table favorite, so tender and flavor perfection. Zero complaints on everything we sampled, it was a great meal.”
“We were here for their Valentine’s Day tasting menu and combined it with their wine pairing. Absolutely amazing especially the egg caviar and lobster bolognese. The host was ok, but our server was top notch attentive. We’ll be back.”
“This is an amazing restaurant. Well deserving of the Michelin star. The food was amazing, well cooked and innovative. The steak was perfectly cooked, egg caviar is a fun dish. The cocktails were delicious and well mixed. The service was great. The price was okay considering it’s a Michelin star restaurant but then again I do live in NYC haha. Overall an amazing experience. I celebrated my birthday they give a little candle and a note. Would recommend to try their happy hour too, seemed like a great deal.”
“Citrin started strong with comfortable seating and an appealing, well-curated menu. With a Michelin-starred restaurant, I naturally came in with certain expectations for precision, depth of flavor, and seamless service. Overall, the menu composition was thoughtful and promising. However, several dishes lacked the level of flavor and refinement I anticipated. I was especially excited about the lobster pasta with additional truffles, which carried a significant premium. Unfortunately, the tomato sauce was overpowering, completely masking the aroma and taste of the truffle. Instead of a layered and balanced dish, it felt like a straightforward tomato pasta that could have been found at a neighborhood restaurant. Given the additional $70 for the upgrade and truffles, this was particularly disappointing. Service also felt disjointed. There did not seem to be a dedicated server, and different individuals delivered each course. While everyone was polite, the experience lacked cohesion. Dessert arrived before the coffee that had been ordered, and the coffee never came, even after dessert was finished. The highlight of the evening was the steak, which was well-prepared and genuinely enjoyable. Aside from that course, however, nothing stood out in a memorable way.”
