“Hands down best dining experience I’ve ever had. Each and every time I visit the experience never disappoints. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was impeccable, and every bite of our meal was incredible. You can tell this place takes pride in every detail. It’s rare to find a restaurant where the food, service, and ambiance are all equally exceptional. Highly recommend”
“Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Absolute Masterclass in Steakhouse Excellence If you are looking for the definitive Atlanta steakhouse experience, Hal’s on Old Ivy is it. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between high-end sophistication and a warm, buzzing energy that makes you feel like a regular—even if it's your first time. We started the evening with the seafood, and it was impeccably fresh. The Crab Cocktail was served over a dramatic mountain of ice, featuring massive, sweet lumps of chilled crab that paired perfectly with their cocktail sauce. We also dove into the Oysters Rockefeller and a stunning medley of fried lobster and crab meat—the breading was light and crispy, allowing the sweetness of the seafood to really shine. For the main event, the steaks were cooked to absolute perfection. Both the Ribeye and the Bone-in Filet arrived with a beautiful, salty char on the outside while remaining incredibly tender and juicy on the inside, swimming in just the right amount of butter and herbs. The Standout Sides: • Brussels Sprouts with Bacon: Perfectly caramelized with a smoky crunch. • Sautéed Onions: Sweet, rich, and the ideal companion to the ribeye. The service was seamless—attentive without being intrusive—and the pace of the meal was spot on. Hal’s isn't just a dinner; it’s an event. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want the best steak in the city, this is the spot. I’ll be thinking about that bone-in cut for a long time. Pro Tip: Make a reservation well in advance; this place is a local icon for a reason!”
“Slow start...Great recovery. We arrived before our reservation time but we're seated promptly... then we waited... and waited... and waited some more... I finished 2 glasses of water and on the 3rd refill asked the lady refilling the water if she knew who our waiter is... She left to fetch him... at that point our waiter rushed over... very apologetic... we were on the verge of walking out.. but that was the low point of the evening, from that point forward, service was amazing... Adam our server was very informative and suggestive... we tried several of his recommendations... the calamari app is not the best. Splurge and go with the lobster and crab one, its amazing... the other dishes were great, on par with similar priced establishments... Hals is well known in Atlanta, it is a must visit... Asking around after out visit and many were shocked at our experience in the beginning... if life puts back in that area of Atlanta again we will sure to visit..”
“The steak was fabulous! The lobster bisque had very few pieces of lobster in it, but the flavor was excellent. My daughter really liked the lobster Mac and cheese but to me it was only just okay, as was the creamed spinach and the whatever pasta that was. The cheddar mashed potatoes were fine. Didn't take pictures of the food on the table but there were enough leftovers for another whole meal...pictures of that. I combined the leftover steak into one box.”
“This was my first time being at this restaurant. I was very disappointed, and this was my daughter birthday dinner. Are server Lee was amazing! Atmosphere was good /okay. Food… we ask for our steak to be Medium +. Mine came out medium rare and my daughter’s steak was medium well. Anna, kept trying to tell us the they were both medium +, but they were not. I have a picture attached that shows it was not. My daughter had to send hers back two times. First time the steak came back almost well done, next time it came back almost rare. She finally said I’ll just keep it. She and I were so disappointed, we just said pack it up and will take it home. The other disappointment part was they first put the two steaks that we sent back on the bill and took it off like they gave us a discount. Never giving us something for the inconvenience and the fact that my daughter’s birthday dinner was ruined. When we got home the gilled asparagus was not grilled. We spent too much money to be treated like this. Very disappointed!!!”
