“If I lived in Austin, J Carver’s would be my regular hangout. Had dinner at the bar (which requires reservations somehow???). They had seats - I took one. OK, let’s go. Starter. Jack Daniels Manhattan, up. Apps. Hamachi and 3 Washington State Oysters; Kumamoto. Main. Pork Chop. Probably the best chop I’ve ever had. Double cut. Cooked perfectly with a nice char. The Hamachi was incredibly delicious and fresh. Everything was spectacular. Highly recommend. Nice neighborhood bar/restaurant feel, great atmosphere. Very dark. Very. I like it. Service was rocky to start but finished well.”

“J Carver’s is easily one of the best restaurants in Austin. We came here to celebrate my son’s graduation, and despite our plans shifting—we pushed our 9:15 pm reservation to 9:45 pm and didn't actually arrive until nearly 10:00 pm—the staff was incredibly accommodating. Even as the last sitting of the night, we never felt rushed. From the excellent wine selection to the final dessert after midnight, the service was flawless and the food was spectacular. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the seafood was incredibly fresh. It was the perfect way to end a big day. Highly recommend for any special occasion!”

“I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to for Jessica, the maître d’ at J Carver’s. I called on a Sunday night as a solo girl new to the city and asked her what the best night would be to come in if I wanted a fun vibe and maybe meet someone. Instead of rushing me off the phone, she spent a solid 10 minutes giving thoughtful, honest recommendations about the crowd and the energy of different nights. I trusted her, made a reservation for the night she suggested, and of course ended up running late. She still made it work effortlessly and made me feel so welcomed the second I walked in. It genuinely felt like one woman wanting another woman to have the best night in a new city. I ended up sitting at the oyster bar (highly recommend if you’re solo, the people watching is elite), and Beau was my server. He was so sweet and attentive without hovering, and let me order as I went instead of rushing me into a full order upfront. That flexibility made the whole experience feel relaxed and natural, especially dining alone. Jessica is the definition of a girl’s girl, and paired with Beau’s service, the entire night just flowed. I can’t say enough good things about the experience. If you’re going to J Carver’s, you’re in very good hands.”

“An Unforgettable Birthday Experience at J Carver’s – Austin, TX Last night, my husband and daughter treated me to an incredible birthday dinner at J Carver’s, and from start to finish, the experience was absolutely exceptional. We were warmly greeted by Andrew, the host, who immediately made us feel special. Without us even mentioning my name, he knew exactly who I was and that we were there to celebrate my birthday, such a thoughtful and impressive touch. When we were seated, I was delighted to find a personalized menu reading “Happy Birthday Adeline,” along with a beautiful card signed by the staff. Classy and heartfelt! Our waiter, Marcus (ask for him if you want top-notch service), was phenomenal—polite, attentive, and welcoming. He made us feel right at home and recommended a specialty cocktail that my husband and I ordered… and WOW, it was to die for. Marcus expertly walked us through the menu, from appetizers to entrées, and every recommendation exceeded expectations. We started with the crab cake, and I can confidently say no other crab cake compares. I truly believe Gordon Ramsay himself would agree. The halibut was light, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. And the bread? Absolutely mouthwatering. For our entrée, we shared the Prime Tomahawk Ribeye, paired with baked potato gnocchi, glazed baby carrots, and asparagus, every bite was outstanding. “The service was phenomenal. Charles was incredible. His recommendations were exactly in mind with what we wanted, but he was very attentive and pleasant. The rest of the staff were also constantly filling up our waters. The food was really good too. Probably the best crab cake we've ever had. The sides were good too, as was the steak.”
