A Parisian oasis in the sky On the rooftop of the musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, Les Ombres restaurant, designed by architect Jean Nouvel, opens onto a panoramic terrace, like a hanging garden of Mediterranean plants. The restaurant is wall-to-wall glass and offers an exceptional view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. During the day, the legendary monument casts a shadow onto the tables with its metallic lace, while at night, its golden lights illuminate the dining area. During the evening, the ceiling at Les Ombres transforms into a starry sky every hour, addressing a glittering nod to its illustrious neighbour.
“Amazing Experience, rooftop view of Eiffel Tower and amazing courses on the summer menu. Very accommodating for Gluten-free/Celiac dining! Reserve well in advance. Staff is all friendly and attentive. They spoke excellent english but this is a courtesy as this is France.”
“We had a wonderful experience at Les Ombres. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and full of flavor, making the whole meal truly enjoyable. Of course, one of the highlights is the breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower, which creates a unique atmosphere and makes the restaurant a very special place to enjoy lunch or dinner in Paris. A special mention goes to the desserts, which were outstanding and the perfect way to finish the meal. We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Italian olive oil served at the table — a small detail that reflects the care and attention given to the dining experience. Combined with the attentive and professional service, Les Ombres offers a memorable experience that goes beyond the view alone. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, an elegant atmosphere, and one of the most iconic views in Paris. We would gladly return.”
“Visited in Feb 2024, and a memorable experience still comes to my mind at times. The beautiful amuse bouche and beet salad were nice, and the duck dish, that was really something. At first, we thought the staff was a bit cold, but he passionately explained each dish and even enthusiastically took photos of us with the Eiffel Tower. We still remember him! Thank you once again. Hope to visit again someday when the weather is nice.”
“This was by far the most disappointing dining experience we had in Paris. We made our reservation a week in advance, yet when we arrived we still had to wait 20–30 minutes to be seated. We were then shown to a table located directly behind the waiters' station, where staff were constantly walking around us carrying plates, glasses, and other items. There was absolutely no privacy, and the atmosphere felt more like a service area than a fine dining restaurant. The lady who served the wine didn't even greet us. The staff moved around like robots, with no warmth, attention, or hospitality. The food was the biggest disappointment. The bread tasted like it had been frozen and reheated, the vegetables were clearly frozen cooked , the mushrooms were burnt, and the celery purée was sour. Unfortunately, this experience was far below our expectations and did not reflect the level of quality and service we expected.”
“Proposed today and all my research said that this would be the best place for an engagement dinner. Price wasn’t an object as it is a very special night. 80’s style solarium ….. with a view …. But it’s not great. The manager was very nice and gave us a great table. Most tables do have a good “view”, albeit obstructed behind beams and 80s glass. Wine menu lacks the dynamic depth a wine lover would want, just full of pretentiousness. Sommelier, forgot to come back as promised to put together a pairing. Not even the courtesy of table cloths, just brown Formica fake wood. Food was decent but for Paris I have had twice as good for half the price. Honestly I was embarrassed and couldn’t wait to get out. Luckily my bride to be appreciated the sentiment and being together. I am sad to say it was overrated”
