“My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at MDRD, and it was hands down one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve ever had. We’re both serious food lovers, and my husband is an exceptional chef, so our expectations were high. MDRD exceeded every one of them. We chose the four-course tasting menu, and what arrived at our table was nothing short of extraordinary. The chef learned it was our anniversary and thoughtfully customized each course specifically for us. It was a completely unexpected gesture that made an already special evening feel truly personal. Every plate was a work of art. The presentation was stunning, but more importantly, each dish delivered incredible flavor, creativity, and attention to detail. It was the kind of meal that has you talking about every bite long after it’s gone. What made the evening even more remarkable was our server, Brenna. She wasn’t simply providing service; she was creating an experience. Her warmth, knowledge, attentiveness, and genuine enthusiasm elevated the entire night. By the end of the evening, she felt less like a server and more like a friend we hadn’t seen in years who effortlessly picked up right where we left off. From the customized tasting menu to the exceptional hospitality, MDRD gave us an anniversary celebration we’ll never forget. “What did $175, all in, get us? Best Resturant experience I’ve had in the area. Had some difficulty making reservations through OpenTable (partly my fault) but the outstanding and charismatic GM Johnathon took care of everything - thanks again for helping me make my wife’s birthday special! We enjoyed the salad, Tapas, the trip-worthy unique desert, and a bottle of wine. See pictures. All in a perfect classy and scenic atmosphere.”

“5 stars for the food, absolutely incredible. 5 stars for the waitstaff. Very knowledgeable about the entire menu 3 stars on the atmosphere. I learned about being able to pay even more money than what food and drinks cost to get the “best” views of the city. We were there for our anniversary and were seated right around the corner from the hostess stand. ALL the traffic from the restaurant passed our table and some were so loud we had to stop our conversation to wait for the loud drunk people to get on the elevator and leave. If you read this and want to see the city without pillars in your way, pay the extra for a better table”

“We recently dined at MDRD in Grand Rapids and had mixed feelings. The entire staff was genuinely friendly and pleasant, but the attentiveness was very lacking. It took about 15 minutes before we were even greeted by a server, and another 15 minutes after ordering before our drinks arrived, which immediately set a slow tone for the evening. We ordered the beet salad, octopus, ceviche, salmon puffs with caviar, mussels, and potatoes. The salmon puffs, ceviche, and potatoes were all very good and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the octopus and mussels really missed the mark. The octopus was extremely fishy and very chewy, and the mussels were also overly fishy, served lukewarm, and came with a sauce that was surprisingly bland and lacking depth. This was disappointing, especially coming from a restaurant that positions itself at this price point. The cocktails were well made, and the lemon mousse dessert was a highlight. The interior of MDRD is absolutely stunning and is honestly one of the biggest selling points — the atmosphere is beautiful and upscale. That said, for a $200 dinner, we were pretty underwhelmed by both the food quality and the overall service experience. One additional issue was that my water glass had a strange odor, to the point where I couldn’t drink from it. While everyone we interacted with was kind and professional, we simply didn’t see our servers often enough to feel properly taken care of. With better service and more consistent food execution, this place could be great — but for the price, it fell short for us. “We went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The ambience of the place was really good. The service and presentation of the food were satisfactory. But the food was missing the flavour. We had Patatas Bravas and Iberico pork Belly for starters. Patatas Bravas was just fancy french fries that missed the mark. Pork Belly was decent. For the Main course, we had Chuletas De Codero(Lamb Chops) and Lomo De Wagyu. Wagyu was decent Lamb Chops were really bland. For the dessert, we had El Limon and Arbol De Frambuesa, and both were pretty good. Especially, the presentation. Drinks were absolutely fire. Overall, it was a let down for the price we paid and expectations we had.”
