Moon Rabbit is a highly-regarded Vietnamese restaurant situated in the heart of Washington D.C., drawing inspiration from the virtuous rabbit depicted in the Buddhist Jataka tale. Led by acclaimed Chef Kevin Tien, the restaurant embodies an innovative approach to Vietnamese cuisine, showcasing a menu that is both unique and complex. Chef Tien's main objective is to pay tribute to his heritage as a first-generation Asian American, using Moon Rabbit as a platform for expressing his love for Vietnamese culture and food.
“Exquisite food paired with excellent service. To start, our server Monique was phenomenal, radiant and one of the best servers I have encountered in my dining experience. What a blessing for Moon Rabbit to have such a phenomenal service/front of house team! We sampled quite a few different courses on a very well crafted and diverse menu. “From the Earth” we tried the Crispy Mountain salad which was flavorful and refreshing in between our heavier courses, “From the Sea” we had the sweet potato & crab as well as the Mochi Beignet which brought unique flavors with bold combinations. The options “From the Land” we had both the rabbit and the pork - both which were rich but not overly heavy, a very well curated combination of flavors that worked well together in each dish. The deserts were divine, I usually do not like sweets as I lack a sweet tooth however the deserts at Moon Rabbit are light and refreshing! We had both the Curry and Apple deserts - I’d highly recommend both! I also had the best mocktails I have ever had in my life - I highly recommend the Jade to anyone seeking a slightly tart, mildly sweet, well balanced non alcoholic beverage to pair with these divine courses. Of course a huge thank you to Moon Rabbit for curating a unique and affordable dining experience!”

It is rare to find a restaurant that strikes such a perfect balance between elite-level hospitality and high-impact, creative food. An undeniable five-star dining experience from start to finish! #Gs5SecondReview”
“Moo Rabbit was a complete experience. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Our waiter Mike provided us with great recommendations and pairings. The dishes were balanced and delicious, with beautiful presentation and flavors. Favorite dish was the wagyu beef “stuffed leaves”, one of their staples on the menu. The dessert options were especially unique as they towed the line between weird ingredients and masterful combinations. It was well worth the visit!!”
“We had a fantastic time here. It’s a Vietnamese fusion restaurant, and every dish we ordered was excellent. The cornbread, snapper, prawn, rice cake, and curry all stood out — rich, layered flavors with great textures. Each dish feels thoughtfully designed, well balanced, and even a little surprising in a good way. We ordered three desserts and they were all amazing and very unique. Definitely try the seaweed and durian desserts — you won’t regret it. They also offer some very creative cocktails, though to be honest, we didn’t really enjoy the ones we ordered.”
“I love the Vietnamese flavors (not pictured is the lemongrass pork, which was flavorful and delicious), but I really missed the old menu from when Moon Rabbit was at the Wharf. I think my judgement might be a little clouded by that, but I thought there was more focus on the Vietnamese dishes and less on fine dining. There were some really cool techniques - like the almost mochi like gnocchi and their take on corn bread (sweet and savory and definitely a must try). Also their bar program is stellar! I would rate that higher than any of the dishes we had. If I was in the area and there was a free seat at the bar, I would grab one just for a cocktail or glass of wine. The ambience is cozy, approachable... unfortunately the price tag is not. Honestly, the one thing I dislike the most is a hefty price tag that leaves we wondering what the heck I ordered and still feeling hungry. Everything is shared plates which I find it hard for places to do at a reasonable price where the you actually leave sufficiently full... I am not asking for stuffed, I am asking to just feel like I ate a meal. Fortunately - that corn bread was so good, we had another one for dessert and that did the trick. Bottom line: Would I go back? Not in a hurry, which sucks because I was so looking forward to this. I have seen some excellent reviews of their tasting menu, so I may give that a go during one of the restaurant weeks...”
