TAO Asian Bistro - Chicago

“This was my first visit but it won't be my last! The whole experience was amazing and the food was just as great. I didn't capture all of the food I tried but just know you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I hear that a lot bout I can truly say that's true at this restaurant. Food was served on the middle spinning table and we all were able to try everything!! Lastly my sidecar and large fortune cookie 🥠 was also amazing. The fruit served with the cookie was sooo fresh!!”

“TAO Chicago is a vibe — visually, at least. The food genuinely delivered. The lobster wontons in shiitake ginger broth were a great way to start, and the tempura green beans and tempura avocado were solid appetizers. The shrimp fried rice was the clear winner of the night — good enough that my husband sent back his original dish and ordered the same thing I got. A few things kept it from being a 5-star experience though: our server was managing a lot of tables and the attention showed — drink refills were slower than we would’ve liked. And the noise level made actual conversation at the table pretty tough. Reservation was honored on time, food came out well, but the overall experience was just okay. The kitchen is doing its job. The rest of the experience just needs to match it.”

“Me and my friend’s came here for dinner to celebrate our birthdays, and overall we had a really good time. The atmosphere was really nice and honestly one of my favorite parts. The inside is beautiful, with so many eye catching details everywhere. The music was really good too and set the vibe. We came for dinner, but you can tell it brings that lounge/club energy as well, which was just what we needed! The service was good, everyone was nice, and our food came out pretty fast. We got sushi and dumplings, and those were amazing! It is definitely expensive, but that was expected. My only complaint was the steak. We got the $110 steak, and even though it tasted okay, I don’t feel like it was worth $110. I was expecting more, so that part was a little disappointing, and I probably wouldn’t order it again. Other than that, everything else was great, and I’d definitely come back! 💜”

“Tao Chicago definitely stands out when it comes to atmosphere and the space is beautiful, lively, and has that upscale, high-end vibe. It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for an energetic night out or want to enjoy the scene. However, the food and pricing don’t quite live up to the experience. Tao positions itself as a higher-end restaurant, so everything is on the pricier side, but the portions are fairly small for what you pay. While the food is good, it’s not necessarily worth the cost compared to other spots in the same range. Overall, I’d recommend coming here for the Tao party and ambiance rather than for a full dining experience. It’s a great place to hang out and enjoy the vibe just don’t expect the food to be the highlight.”

“5 star prices. 5 star decorations. 2.5 star quality. The look of the place is incredible. The DJ they had was really good. I wanted to give it 5 stars. BUT Food quality honestly not very good especially for the price. Quality was inconsistent. Pork bun was good. Oysters were small and low quality though the underneath light was a nice effect. Desert cake super sized and should have included ice cream with it - which i did order as well. It felt like the restaurant was trying to be upscale but missed on details that I expect from a place that looked like it did. Check in experience not so good. I had reservation but still needed to wait 20 minutes. I went to bar and menu was outdated. The food items that look nice in the reviews... nope they don't offer them. I took suggestion from waitress. I ordered 6 things, and of them 5 were not so good. The drink was nice at least. This is not really a good place for a date night. Too noisy to talk. It was a great place to see once. I would recommend only going into the bar, get one drink, take some photos and go.”
