“Had a great lunch during the week at the bar. The bartender was friendly and a seasoned vet. She had a great pomegranate martini recommendation from the menu that was delicious. The oysters were great but the clams had lots of shells. I went for the $35 loaded lobster rolls that was so refreshing! Such a good deal!”
“New favorite restaurant alert! Breathtaking views and a high-caliber menu that prioritizes seasonal specials and technical precision. The experience is rounded out by incredible drinks, making it a standout destination where the atmosphere and the flavors are equally unforgettable. It is the perfect spot for anyone seeking a premium dining experience that excels in every category. Loved t here and can't wait to come back!”
“I was very excited to bring family for a special dinner at the Coast Guard house. I've eaten there in previous years and had a good experience. We chose the Anchor Room which to be honest it has an amazing view but I prefer the regular restaurant, I did not realize the anchor Room was a separate building and I did have my elderly mother and we were told the elevator "may or may not" be working? when we got there and we ended up taking the stairs( it ended up the elevator worked but we were afraid to try it as the attendant did not know for sure). I did not love where they sat us I had noted in my reservation it was a special occasion we wanted to sit next to a window which they did not accommodate. We ended up sitting at the table directly in front of the doorway where the servers come and go which I didn't love and was disappointed. Our server was nice he was definitely very busy we had to ask him multiple times for things and there wasn't many check-ins with us. I got the haddock and the au gratin vegetables. I thought they were good (the veggies were very very cheesy and salty) my sister got the same thing and she does not enjoy that much cheese so she didn't eat them ( it's really really a cheese dish with just some vegetables.!). The Highlight I will say was the tempura cauliflower which we shared as an appetizer it was absolutely delicious. I also got a mocktail with lemon and lime and that was refreshing and delicious. I wish we had eaten in the traditional Coast Guard room it's so much cozier and I just wasn't a fan of the anchor room. Although I will say the views are to die for, you feel like you are on a boat in the water I do recommend the restaurant I just wish I had had a better experience especially since I have been talking so highly of it and brought my family for a celebration.”
“I’m giving this place four stars because although the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous, inside and out, and the service was great; I wasn’t super thrilled with the food and cocktail I had. I got the blackberry lemon sour for a cocktail and although it was smooth, it tasted like it had too much juice and not enough alcohol. It was almost a little watered down. I had the clam chowder for an appetizer, which I actually loved and I had the linguini with clams for my entree. I think the clams were a little over cooked because they were pretty chewy. The taste was alright. I feel like I’ve had better linguini with clams at cheaper restaurants. For the price of the food and drinks, I feel like the quality of the food and drinks should have been a little better. We did have two of the desserts (cheesecake and some sort of espresso dessert I forgot the name of) and those were absolutely excellent. Other than that, the service was excellent and we had a really nice waiter. We didn’t have to wait too long for our drinks and food even though it was really busy at the time we went. We also had a gorgeous view of the sunset over the ocean so that was awesome. As for the food and drinks, maybe I went on an off day. I would definitely come back again to retry it, even if just for the view alone.”
“We went to the Coast Guard House for the first time last night, for my significant other's birthday dinner. The free valet parking was very nice, and made a great impression from the start. We were early for our igloo reservation, so we stopped at the bar for a pre-dinner drink. Jim, our bar server, was very personable & professional. The bar has a nice vibe -and Jim is part of the reason for that! The hostess (who's name escapes me) was able to get us into our igloo a bit early. The igloo's (which have a $100 upcharge) are very cool, and worth it for a special occassion! (I should mention that these 6 igloos allowed the Coast Guard House to remain open during COVID -keeping their staff employed.) They each have a different theme. Ours was named "Bountiful" -think Autumn. They have an electric fireplace, a heater, and a bluetooth speaker that you cak connect to and use your playlist, Sirius, etc. They can hold 8 people. Nice sofas, tables, & had a basket of blankets as well. Our server Nick was very attentive, and teriffic overall, with one exception that I'll get into at the end of my review. It was Vintage Tuesday (20% orr any bottle) so we bought a nice Montepulciano which we enjoyed. We planned on a half dozen oysters (Mystic) and half dozen littlenecks. Nick suggested their Anchor Platter -which added 2 huge shrimp to them. That was a good move! For entrées Pam had the Salmon which she really enjoyed. I had the pasta special: chopped scallops, shrimp, & lobster in a cream sauce on papperdelle. I was surprised by how much lobster it had, and it was delicious For dessert, we shared a piece of cheesecake, coated in graham cracker crumbs. It was tasty! However, my reservation had a birthday notation, and I reminded the restaurant through their Open Table texting that it was a birthday (which they said they knew from the reservation.) They said to tell our server and they would put a candle on the dessert for her. I made sure Nick knew it was her birthday as well. ...No candle on the dessert. Certainly an oversight, but it was a special occassion & I did my part 3 times. I'd love to give the Service a 5 -because it was, other than this. I wish there was a 4.8 option, but there is not. Ignoring this would not be helpful to the next person with a birthday. We will certainly be back again!”
