Scratch & Co. is your most welcoming neighborhood restaurant. On weekdays (Monday - Thursday), we serve a tavern-style menu of sandwiches, comfort food, and hearty snacks throughout the restaurant. Weekends bring a shift: our dining room features a broader menu of small plates and entrees, while hand-held fare is reserved for the bar. We specialize in large group reservations and on-site private events, with thoughtful hospitality at the center of it all. We’re deeply committed to our local farms and to using every bit of what we purchase from them. We cook with intention and care because we want to demonstrate our respect for our farmers and our land. Our spirits collection is wide-ranging, and our bartenders love crafting custom cocktails in collaboration with curious guests. We keep a tight but thoughtful wine list designed to match any dish or mood, and many of our bottles are available to-go from our bottle shop. Our rotating draft list highlights the incredible talent of Pittsburgh’s breweries — and we’re always on the lookout for new local favorites. Sunday brunch is a Scratch tradition, featuring house-made bagels, and old-fashioned donuts. They are amazing. We are a small restaurant. We sell out, occassionally. We love to open our doors for all kinds of gatherings — from semi-private dinners to full buyouts. If you’re planning a large party (up to 12 guests), we’d love to host you any night of the week. For groups of 13 or more, just head to our website to start the conversation.
“Loved our dinner. We went for an anniversary. We got the trout & the steak, both of which were amazing. The cocktails were delicious. The staff were all so nice and personable, very welcoming. They even gave us a free cookie for our anniversary which I thought was so kind. Definitely will return!”
“We had a fantastic dinner including drinks, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. Our server made excellent recommendations and created a great meal and experience. Highly recommend the focaccia, potato and leek soup, NY strip, and trout.”
“My partner and I came to Scratch and Co for karaoke night tonight and turns out the DJ had the wrong date and it started next month! We decided to still get dinner because the atmosphere was so beautiful and the staff who greeted us was incredibly welcoming and apologetic. They gave us free focaccia bread with delicious spreads and even free dessert which was soft sweet chocolate chip cookies with milk. How Kind!! My partner and I enjoyed our meals so much- his being spicy wings that just hit the spot and mine being meatloaf atop mash potatoes reminded me of my mom’s recipe growing up. It was a wonderful night with the kindest people and most satisfying food. Thank you! Cannot wait to return!”
“The Lent fish sandwich (now on permanent menu) was so good, and I’ve never ordered trout before! Focaccia bread also great. The smashed potatoes are frequently reviewed and I thought they were over-hyped (just little salted potatoes) but still good. I loved my cocktails (lemon drop, daquiri) and that they offered happy hour on Friday. The bartenders were hard at work. Can’t wait to go back and try more things on the menu!”
“My husband and I went to Scratch & Co. for the first time expecting to get a burger, but once we arrived we realized the menu changes quite a bit on weekends. We ended up ordering the meatloaf, trout, and the smashed potatoes — and honestly, it turned out to be a great surprise. When I think of classic American comfort food, meatloaf (fun fact: meatloaf actually originated in Germany & Belgium!) is always the first thing that comes to mind, and theirs is absolutely divine. It’s not greasy at all, perfectly pan-seared with a nice crust, and served with mashed potatoes topped with crispy onions — just perfect. The smashed potatoes were also excellent, and the garlic aioli was spot on: light, balanced, and with a gentle touch of garlic. I also ordered a hibiscus tea that was really good — refreshing and well balanced. Our server, Nicole, was wonderful: attentive, kind, explained the dishes well, and had such a great energy — same goes for the host! We’ll definitely be back to try the burger. This place was a very pleasant surprise.”
