The Alisal Ranch Grill

“This place deserves a higher rating. Though not a perfect meal, it was close enough. We wanted to sit on the patio, but it was hot outside. They let us pick our table inside, so we chose one with a view with no regrets. We all agree that the Crispy Brussels Sprouts are outstanding! We’ve been to Solvang numerous times, so walking around the golf course and the ranch/hotel was a beautiful experience.”

“We have come here numerous times just for this beautiful atmosphere outside among the oaks. This time the stream was flowing and it was glorious. Usually the service is very good and the food is worthy of the price - both middle of the road. Today it was not good. The tortilla soup was a strange new recipe and it was room temperature. My beef dip must have been sitting around because the bread was soggy from the moment I picked it up. The beef was soggy fatty I couldn’t eat it. I ordered the Caesar salad and I agree it’s also a strange recipe although the lettuce was cold and crisp. We had an ice tea and a mimosa. The bill was $75 with the 20% gratuity. I don’t think we will ever go again. So sad.”

“What happened to the river grill ? We been going there for 25 years , but today our food was terrible! Maybe it's under new management? Or new cooks ,very sad”

“I ordered wine, shared a ceaser salad, and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup with a friend. She gave us two seperate salad plates, and one bowl of soup. After taking a few bites of the salad we noticed it tased different, we mentioned to our server we thought the cooks gave us the wrong dressing, she brought us a side of the dressing so we could make certain. We quickly realized that we didn't care for their version of ceaser dressing, It was nothing like ceaser dressing, more like honey mustard. So my other frustrations our server didn't even offer a discount, or a different salad? Strange to me. We would have paid more if necessary for another salad. Also why didn't the server communicate the split plate charge for the salad was almost the same price as ordering another salad! I will not be back.”

“The scenery is beautiful, but the service today was awful. We cleared dirty dishes off a table in order to be able to sit down. After that, the server came up to us and literally said "I guess they told me to take care of your table." We had to ask for menus, silverware, and more water. They never asked if we wanted more coffee or water. My Aunt's food didn't come with ours so we had to ask for that, and when it came it was so cold she had to send it back. We only tipped the busser, because he was the only one who smiled and didn't act like we were a problem, and my Aunt goes there every Sunday! I would never voluntarily choose to go to this restaurant again. I don't like feeling like a chore or a burden, and grouchy customer service is the absolute worst!”
