The George and Dragon is a charming, traditional, family-run, village country pub full of character - the ideal spot for a leisurely drink or a superb meal with family and friends, any time of the week. Located in a traditional British country village, Chacombe, just a few miles from Banbury and a short drive from the famous Silverstone race track, Milton Keynes and Oxford. We’re what you might call a ‘proper pub’ serving a selection of real ales and craft beers, including the latest from Everards. We also have an extensive wine, gin and spirit list and a range of soft drinks. At The George and Dragon, we’re committed to providing a fantastic atmosphere, excellent service and a warm welcome. We’re dedicated to being the place where locals and visitors share the same great food sourced from outstanding local suppliers. “Walked from Banbury for Sunday lunch. I had the roast pork which was delicious - great Yorkshire pudding, loved the broccoli and cauliflower gratin and plenty of gravy, although I could haven taken crisper potatoes and crackling. Despite how much I enjoyed mine, I had massive food envy for my friend's minted lamb pie and chips - proper chips not the reconstituted rubbish and cooked to order not just a reheated pie as there's a 25 minute wait for one. They actually have elderflower cordial which was very pleasing. So many pubs simply don't cater well enough for non alcohol drinkers who don't want a fizzy drink. We sat outside and the ambience was great. Not many people out there but an awesome country playlist was being played through speakers from inside the pub - right up my street and the best pub/restaurant music selection I've heard in ages. I'd definitely come back and next time I want a pie! 😀”
“Absolutely fantastic pub! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Great atmosphere from the moment you walk in — warm, welcoming, and lively without being overwhelming. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure everything was spot on. The drinks selection was excellent and the food was delicious, clearly made with care. Perfect place to relax with friends or enjoy a cosy evening out. Will definitely be coming back — highly recommend!”
“What an incredible experience me and my family had here. The pub was in a great location and brilliant old school country pub with an updated twist. Incredible service, very welcoming atmosphere and all staff are always happy to help. The food was incredible, scotch egg was amazing, muscles were delicious, home made pizza for the kids which went down very well. A great selection of beer and wines. Overall a 10/10 experience at such an amazing place, would definitely recommend”

“Fantastic food, friendly service and a warm cozy environment. What more do you need out of the pub, hang on I’ve got one, great beer!!! We visited with our friends and their kids at the weekend, they had a great beer called the Sun Chaser which I could have happily stayed and drank all day. The burger and lasagna were both fantastic. All in all we had a fab experience and it’s one of my new favourites in the area 👍 Also the Chips are great here.”
