Villa Tronco is a long-running family-owned Italian restaurant in Columbia, SC, known as the oldest restaurant in the state and credited with introducing pizza to the city. It serves generous portions of pasta, pizza, and Italian favorites in a warm brick-and-wood-paneled room, with cocktails and live music. A popular spot for date nights, group celebrations, and special occasions.
“Went here for Valentine's and we really loved the place. What's family owned and is the oldest restaurant in South carolina. They introduced Pizza to Columbia. The excellent service in the delicious sauces were my favorites.”
“Villa Tromco was absolutely wonderful date night dinner spot. We got there early and were seated immediately. They had a great selection of drinks and food. Ordered a couple appetizers and drinks. For the main course my wife ordered the meatballs and I ordered the pork ribeye special both were plenty of food for the both of us. Is definitely our new favorite Italian restaurant. Staff were really nice and everyone was attentive not just the server. Kept checking in on us and making sure we were satisfied. Also I would be doing a disservice if I didn't mention that the amaretto bread pudding is a must have if you get dessert.”
“Dec 2025. Had 2 work functions here in 2025. Following our Christmas dinner we were honored to be invited to the Table Tennis room. We had a great time over all!”
“This place blew me out the park. I enjoyed the food so much and it reminded me of growing up in NY and eating at our favorite Italian restaurant. Food was amazing . Great prices , great service and everything was tasty . Authentic Italian food , which can be hard to find these days.”
“I have been excited to try this place for months and was waiting for the right time. My mother came all the way from the other side of the country to joint celebrate my birthday and Mother’s Day and thought this was the perfect spot. I made a reservation for 6:30 for the Dining Room with plans for a movie at 8:00. When we arrived our table was not ready, and an elderly woman at the host stand offered us to sit outside. We declined and said we would wait, thinking it would take no more than 15 minutes because “they were just waiting for the other tables to get up.” Well clearly it must have been newborns who they were waiting on as 45 minutes passed with other parties getting sat, including a table of 4 that showed up at 7:00. When we asked the elderly woman at the host stand where was our table, she rudely said it was our fault because we passed up sitting outside. If we wanted to sit outside, we would have marked my reservation for outside. As someone who has worked in service industry for the better half of 7 years and comes from a service industry family, the biggest reason a restaurant loses clientele is bad customer service. I’m not one to write negative reviews, but there is clearly an attitude problem that needs to be addressed. During USC commencement week no less, as she said herself. Maybe in her older age she’s forgotten the art of customer service, and that’s something worth revisiting. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience, and anyone with a hankering for Italian in this city should mosey on down to Il Giorgione instead.”
