FOOD ALLERGIES At Canlis, we understand and respect the importance of accommodating guests with food allergies or intolerances. While we take every precaution to honor dietary requirements and minimize the risk of cross-contact, we must inform you that our kitchen handles a wide variety of ingredients and despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee that cross-contact with allergens has not occurred in our kitchen or before the ingredients arrived in our kitchen. We encourage guests with severe food allergies to exercise their discretion and inform our staff of their dietary needs. Our team will gladly provide information about the ingredients used in our dishes and offer alternative options whenever possible. With this in mind, please be aware that consuming our food is done at your own risk, and Canlis cannot be held liable for any adverse reactions that may occur. The well-being of our staff and guests remains our highest priority–thank you for helping us do this well. SPECIFIC DIETARY REQUESTS We are pleased to offer modifications for vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free diets. Please note, however, that alliums, salt, sugar, and vinegar are integral to our menu and cannot be removed. Requests to avoid these ingredients may result in the omission of certain courses. ATTIRE At Canlis you can’t be overdressed, so go big, look good and have fun with it! We’re a bit old school so we prefer you don’t show up to dinner in a t-shirt or shorts. We put a lot of intention and care into our dining experience and it’s so fun when guests meet us with the same energy. Let's dine together. PAYMENT & CANCELLATIONS $100 per person deposits are taken in advance and applied to your bill the night that you dine. Deposits can be paid via credit card on Tock. If you have a Canlis gift card, they are redeemable in person only; we will happily adjust your deposit in person for full use of your gift cad. If you need to cancel a reservation for any reason you may do so forty-eight hours in advance and we will issue a full refund of your deposit. The reservation becomes non-refundable two days prior to your booking. Reservations changing to a smaller party size are not guaranteed a deposit refund. If there is a table available for your new party size, we will happily reassign your reservation to it and issue a refund. If we are fully reserved for your new desired party size, you are welcome to keep your reservation, but you will be forfeiting the deposit ($100 / person) for the portion of the reservation that decreased. To cancel or modify your reservation, please reach out to reservations@canlis.com or call (206)283-3313 ext. 1. CHILDREN All ages are welcome in our dining room but we ask that everyone be prepared for a lengthy dining experience. We do not allow tablets or phones to entertain children at the table. We will request devices used in this manner to be turned off.
“A truly transformative dining experience. The level of attentiveness and precision demonstrated by the host, servers, and support staff was nothing else but exceptional. Every member of the team possessed an impressive depth of knowledge about each course, thoughtfully sharing details about the local produce and the inspiration behind the name of various ingredients. What made the experience even more remarkable was the balance they achieved between refined professionalism and genuine warmth. Despite the elevated caliber of service, the atmosphere remained inviting, intimate, and deeply personable. A rarity in fine dining, where it is often difficult for sophistication and comfort to coexist so naturally. The omakase was beautifully curated generous, impeccably paced, and surprisingly satisfying without ever feeling excessive. It is the kind of experience I would enthusiastically recommend to both locals and visitors alike, regardless of the occasion. Equally memorable was the wine program. The selection was distinctive and thoughtfully assembled, showcasing an impressive range spanning the Pacific Northwest to exceptional Old World offerings, a level of variety and curation that rivals even some of the best wine lists I have encountered. Thank you so much for the amazing experience.”
“This was definitely an experience. Food incredibly tasty & so fresh. Service is above & beyond. I have nothing bad to say about anyone! Mac (like the IMac 🤘🏽) he was our server for Wednesday evening. And he was attentive and friendly to our table and others the whole time, always on the go but not rushing, moving with ease. Along with everyone else. The atmosphere was great with a pianist playing near by. (He does accept song requests) We were seated next to the window so we had an amazing view of bridge & north Seattle cityscape. I recommend this restaurant for a date night, nice family dinner, or birthdays.”
“The space is beautiful with a really nice atmosphere and view definitely the highlight of the experience. Service was polite and attentive, everything felt smooth and well taken care of.Food was overall okay, nicely presented but not particularly memorable for me. It felt more like a place you go for the setting and experience rather than the food itself.Overall still a nice night, just more about the vibe than the dishes.”
“We came to Canlis to celebrate my fiancé’s 30th birthday (on the actual day), and unfortunately it was a mixed experience. There were definitely some standout dishes — the crab cake and sturgeon in particular were both excellent. However, overall the meal felt inconsistent, and the weaker dishes brought down the experience as a whole. Many items leaned overly salty, and the inclusion of a finishing salt on the table almost reinforced that this was intentional rather than balanced. The duck, in particular, was disappointing — it was quite tough. Additionally, for an 8pm reservation, they had already run out of the meat and potatoes add-on, which felt like a miss at this price point. The highlight of the evening was definitely the service! Staff frequently came by to check in on us and everyone we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. That said, I did leave feeling a bit disappointed on a personal note. While I understand that special touches aren’t guaranteed, it was hard not to notice nearby tables receiving birthday desserts with candles while nothing was acknowledged for my fiancé’s birthday. It didn’t ruin the night, but it did make the experience feel less special than we had hoped.”
“Canlis offers an undeniably beautiful ambiance and world-class views, but unfortunately, the cuisine did not live up to the setting. Several courses were hampered by heavy-handed seasoning; the bread, mashed potatoes, and steak were all excessively salty to the point of being difficult to finish. Additionally, our server didn't inquire about a temperature preference for the steak, which arrived much rarer than the medium-rare we typically enjoy, resulting in a texture that was quite chewy. Given the restaurant's renown, we expected a more refined and balanced flavor profile, but the execution on this visit didn't justify the price point.”
