“Goodwins was an excellent experience and definitely lived up to the hype. My wife and I split the sticky ribs and the patty melt, and both were absolutely divine. The sticky ribs were packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and easily one of the standout dishes we’ve had in a while. The patty melt was just as impressive—rich, flavorful, and cooked exactly right. The atmosphere feels warm and relaxed while still having an elevated, polished vibe. It’s the kind of place that works for a casual dinner but still feels special enough for a date night. Overall, great food, great ambiance, and somewhere we’d absolutely come back to.”

“Amazing birthday dinner at Goodwins. Great cocktails and delicious mains. What really stood out to our group was the appetizers and deserts - oh my lord. The cheese beignets a the sushi cones could have been our entire dinner and we would have been happy to re order this 3-4x (we did even ask for more sushi cones). The sticky toffee pudding and cookie butter cheesecake was 10/10. Our server was helpful, charming, and made the evening fun. I would 100% return. The ONLY thing I have negative to say is that the dining room is quite loud, and much louder than your average Dallas higher end / trend forward restaurant.”

“I’ve been twice - a weekend lunch and a Thursday dinner. It’s nice to have an upscale dining option in the neighborhood. Lunch was a bit more chill but dinner definitely is an event - the place is packed and gets loud. Not overwhelming though. Reservations are a must at night. Parking is tough- the valet often has a waiting line. I have parked a block away on the side streets and it worked fine as long as you double check for no parking signs (ha for a date night I’m gonna use valet). Service has been professional and very efficient and friendly both times. They seem to have good systems in place. Food: I feel it’s really solid and I haven’t encountered anything I didn’t enjoy. On the flip side I wasn’t completely blown away either. I really liked everything it’s just that it doesn’t quite achieve 5 star ratings for me considering price point. Cheese beignets are light and flavorful. Tuna tartare cones are pretty nice. Pork chop and chicken were good entrees. I had a sandwich or maybe a burger at lunch and enjoyed it. I’ll go back and I’d also love to get a drink in the bar behind the restaurant near the restroom entrance: it’s looks interesting - it’s just it’ll have to be the right time when I want to deal with the parking questions.”

“I was anticipating a really good experience at Goodwins, but it came up a bit short. The atmosphere is wonderful. The colors, tones, artwork, and lighting all combine to give you a warm feeling. It creates the impression you are going to have an elevated and enjoyable experience. But there’s a but… We did enjoy ourselves, but the food was hit and miss. The chicken cutlets, although cooked well with a slight crunch from the breading, lacked flavor. The mac and cheese suffered from the same lack of flavor and was too dense. Two bites of it and you feel full. To remedy the situation, it took me several minutes to flag down our waiter to request some salt. It took several more minutes for him to return with the white crystal flavor enhancer. None of this was particularly egregious. But when you’re seated in such a well-appointed dining room, the disappointment you feel when the food and service aren’t on par gets magnified.”

“I truly thought this was going to be a 5 star experience, I’m almost wondering if we just came on an off night because I’ve heard such good things. The build out is stunning. I absolutely loved the vibe of this restaurant. It has so much charm. I came here for a girls dinner, and we had such a good time. Our service was perfect, and the music was at a great volume for all of us to talk. I got the morningside spritz and loved it! The food is what shocked me. I was surprised by the steaks. We were told Goodwin’s was known for their steaks, so I got the filet and my girlfriend got the strip. Both steaks were cooked to perfection, and looked beautiful but lacked seasoning. Both needed salt 😭 we were really surprised because they looked so good. We ordered the cheese beignets, mac and cheese, roasted mushrooms and cookie butter cheesecake. We liked the mushrooms and the cheese beignets. The mac and cheese was just okay. The cookie butter cheesecake was extremely rich, the cookie butter was overpowering. My girl ordered the pork chop, and that was everything! Get the pork chop! Again, maybe an off night. I may try going again!”
