At Bamboo Sushi, we make every decision with the highest regard for this world and the people in it. From transparency in how we source our food, to reducing our carbon footprint, to enriching the communities that we live in. The Portland born Japanese eatery goes beyond sushi, extending to shareable plates, rolls, nigiri, and a delicious wagyu burger, with cocktails and sake to boot.
“Delicious sushi, drinks and desserts. You can't go wrong ordering from this place. Highly recommend the Pebbles and Stone Roll with toasted leek on top and The Forbidden Fruit cocktail. Love coming here on occasion never disappointed when I leave.”
“My husband and I shared: - Sparkling Yuzu Lemonade - Spicy Salmon Tartare - Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice - Garden of Eden Roll - Friday The 13th Roll - Green Machine Roll with Salmon I really enjoyed everything we ordered. The Green Machine roll was my favorite and you can never go wrong with crispy rice. The only downside was that they were out of several things we wanted to order which was disappointing. I would happily go back though!”
“Solid spot. Our server wasn’t too good but the other servers made up for it. The Friday the 13th roll was our favorite and the crispy tuna rice. Shishito peppers were some of the worst we’ve had but they took it off the check. Everything else pretty good”
“Food-wise, this place is great - highly recommend the nigiri and spicy tuna crispy rice specifically. If you’re judging on food alone, fantastic. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing across multiple visits, and it really detracts from the overall experience. During previous visits, there’s been a noticeable and incredibly long delay just to be acknowledged by the host, which isn’t a great first impression. More frustrating, though, is the table service. On my most recent visit, we were seated and waited at least 25 minutes before our server even came over to greet us (and this was not on busy nights, with many tables still open). Throughout the meal, it was difficult to get any attention, whether for our initial order, refills, or follow-ups. To be clear, everyone we interacted with was friendly and polite. But the lack of attentiveness and long wait times feel more like a systemic problem, whether it’s understaffing or poor coordination. It’s tough, because the food really is great. But with service like this, I’m highly unlikely to return unfortunately.”
“3rd and Final visit: The same female bartender was working Saturday night, 6/27 at around 7:30pm or so. We ordered 5 orders of sashimi, only got 1 each. The salads came out after the sushi which was odd, and I asked about the large hot sake twice to make sure she didn't forget it this time. She never did check on us despite working the bar right in front of us. Tipped her an insulting $2 for insulting service...never again. 2nd visit: I sat at the bar this time. Johnny was the bartender and he was awesome. Maybe the best bartender I’ve ever had. Super personable, attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to go back. Oh, try the green machine sushi roll. It has fried green beans which sounds weird but it’s extremely good. This is 100% my sushi spot. $23 for king salmon 5 piece sashimi? Yes, please!!! We really liked Bamboo Sushi. The fish were good and priced better than just about all surrounding sushi spots in that neighborhood. We had a reservation at 4, but they took us early at 2pm. It was rather empty at this time. The large hot saki is a proper large at probably 6-8 shots so that was awesome and priced very nicely. The service was so bad though. Waitress rarely stopped by to check in on us and our sushi waited at the sushi bar for her to get for at least 20 minutes. There was only one other table though, and it was another waitress taking care of them so I can’t understand why service was so bad. The saki and sushi/fish easily made this a 5 star experience but the service was so bad that I dropped it to 2 stars. We will sit at the bar or sushi bar next time to avoid that waitress and hopefully receive better service. Can’t imagine what service is like when the restaurant is actually busy…”
