“I don't get all these bad reviews. Last night was my second time there for my birthday. We were the only people there. I know this place is pricey and if it weren't for my good friend paying I wouldn't be able to afford it. But what a treat!!! Service was great. All of our food and drinks were excellent. We even took a tour of the place and wow its so cool and vintage. Please don't let this awesome one of a kind historical restaurant fade away. Maybe if they add some lower end grub or a few more LA friendly Items more people will come. If you have the money and the time go check this place out. I hear they also have an awesome brunch. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Go. You'll have a ball!”

“Saddle Peak Lodge is a place we’ve visited several times over the years, so we were really looking forward to our most recent dinner. Before going, I checked recent reviews and was surprised by how many 1-star ratings there were - which definitely gave me pause. Were we about to be disappointed too? Happily, no. We had an excellent experience. There were six of us, and we ordered a wide range of entrées: sea bass, salmon, chicken, rib eye, and lamb. Every single person rated their dish a solid 5 stars. My sea bass was outstanding -perfectly cooked with a lightly seasoned crunch. Honestly, one of the best sea bass dishes I’ve had. That said, not everything hit. I didn’t love the Pink Lady salad. It was interesting, but the flavors didn’t quite come together for me. I also found the hors d’oeuvres and small plates uninspiring. I usually struggle to narrow down appetizers, but here I struggled to find one I wanted - and even the shared salad fell flat. The rib eye deserves a special mention. One of our dining companions is a sous chef who regularly prepares rib eyes at his own restaurant, and he couldn’t believe how good it was. His only complaint? Not enough mashed potatoes. Desserts were a hit across the board - the bread pudding is a must. Service was attentive and smooth, and surprisingly, the restaurant wasn’t packed - even on a Saturday night. One thing to note: valet is your only parking option, and it’s $20. Will we be back? Probably. When Saddle Peak gets it right, it really gets it right.”

“Went for the Christmas dinner with a big group of friends & they were very accommodating. Everyone was happy! We were not expecting a prix fixe menu, as we were told it was not when the reservation was made. But even with 14 people (some VERY picky people lol) everyone was happy! Note there is no tipping but a 20%service fee instead.”

“We chose this restaurant for a Mother’s Day brunch, bringing three generations of family, including my 89-year-old grandmother. Upon arrival, we asked for a high chair. It took three separate requests, as we stood waiting, holding my baby, unable to sit and passing the baby around to different family members as our arms grew tired. Not a good first impression for Mother's day. When the high chair finally arrived, it was falling apart. Pieces of wood were sliding off on the sides and front. My husband tried to push it back together by hand by slamming it every 30 minutes or so with the palm of his hand in an attempt to keep the peace. After that, we ordered a bowl of fruit for the baby, but it never arrived, and we had to ask for it again only after we got our first course. Now all the mothers are frustrated. The valet and hostess failed to explain the handicap-accessible entrance directly from the parking lot to the back patio to my guests upon arrival. As a result, my grandmother walked through the middle of the restaurant, and we had to rush to assist her and we wondered why the valet wouldnt lead them to the handicapped access to begin with. We then told her it was on the side of the patio for next time. My dish, a Benedict, was as solid as a golf ball! (See photos) No where in the menu did it mention the rib steaks were gonna be sous vide, meaning "boiled" medium-rare or medium, But it was cooked like a hockey puck! It was horrible! The onion soup was literally serveed on a plate. Yes a plate. With 3 peices of toast with melted cheese and a drizzle of soup on the bottom of the plate. It tasted like water. Had no flavor and lacked salt!! For the apple salad, i think the chef had forgotten the vinegrette or something. It was soggy lettuce with no bite. It was weird. My guest at the table also had a second dish that was embarrassing to serve, and we had to just push through. I would say the desserts were the best over all. Food was horrible tho. Additionally the table fell on my lap. Yes. The 6ft table had a leg that folded into itself as the lock was not properly set in and I was sitting at the end of the table and had to carry it off of me. The second course and dessert took foooorrrrever! At no point did anyone offer us cocktail drinks, despite all of us planning to enjoy a few cocktails or mimosas as my guest drove 2 hrs to this location due to me telling them this place was great. Did I mention we had 4 menus shoved behind our seats that were never taken during the entire service? As we cleaned up gifts and my party went to the restroom to clean up, I had the check split into 3 ways and away from view so as to not allow my guest to feel inclinded to pay, I realized my grandmother had tried to make her slow journey to the car without AGAIN being told about the handicapped access on the side of the patio! She said she couldn't find it. Additionally teres no sign for it. She didn't even need to enter the restaurant at all. All the waiters just waited along side the path way and watched her walk by. She walks 2 inches at a time!! By the time we came back she was half way trough the restaurant. WHERE IS THE SERVICE??!!! We held up the valet because she stuggled down the front of the stairs. Overall, this was an incredibly embarrassing, unprofessional experience. Which the manager didnt seem to care. Lets move onto the manager: I witnessed the manager taking a shot at 12:30pm, and he seemed so glassy eyed and blank faced to even care. He didn't even offer us a resolution after we vented about our experience. Waste of potential. The establishment I mean. Not the manager. We left there so hungry we ordered take out. I cant believe I spent money on food we hardly ate or enjoyed. I had promised my great grandmother we would come back for Christmas with 25+ guests, but she simply laughed and said "find another place". I am absolutely embarassed by this experience.”
