“The duck was very flavorful and delicious, so does the port, ice cream was pretty rich flavor of vanilla bean, anyways, a perfect light meal. Service was also excellent. Will definitely be back.”

“Early April 2026, I decided to dine solo at Violet on Tuesday afternoon. I had been twice prior and have a fabulous time — first for a group dinner served family style, and second for a business lunch. On my third visit solo, I ordered the tuna Niçoise salad, which I had enjoyed on my second visit. This time, the salad was presented horribly — spring mix messily tossed, tuna as if thrown on the plate, ice cold old green beans, ice cold egg, random potato bits. Further, a man came in speaking loudly on his phone and proceeded to sit next to me while loudly continuing. As if he was so important and closing a big deal. The owner clearly knew this man and did nothing to ensure my enjoyment. He was permitted to interrupt my experience while I begrudgingly choked down my $34 salad. “Classic French bistro fare. Their patio is the better seating space. We had duck and steak entrees, which were good sized portions. Skip the mushrooms, too much garlic and I could not taste the ‘shrooms. The Brussel sprouts were good. The caesar salad was fresh.”

“Violet Bistro was disappointing on multiple levels. First, the food was very substandard. Having taken 3 cooking classes at Violet, I was surprised that the food was so mediocre at best. In the last 2 months I have dined at 3 other French restaurants in Los Angeles that were exceptionally better. Next, the server left us feeling unwelcome. Incredibly the table next also to us also commented on his lack of interest. Even me who is a quick eater felt rushed. Our check was dropped on the table within one minute of receiving our desserts. I really enjoy a well rounded dining experience and this was far from that. I rarely leave negative reviews but I hope this feedback will help this restaurant improve. There are very few options in Westwood for exceptional dining experiences and I truly hope this does not deteriorate further and gets back to the reputation it once had.”
