Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill - Louisville is a Steakhouse restaurant in the Louisville neighborhood of Louisville.
“This upscale place it a must try. I like the food options, setting was very clean, fireplace, dimmed lights, so if you want to go on a nice romantic dinner date look no further. I tried the cedar salmon, asparagus, Mac and cheese and for the appetizer I had steak egg rolls”
“We absolutely love this place! We had dinner with family the other night and couldn’t have been more pleased with everything. We’ve been here before and always have a good experience. The atmosphere is amazing. We love the low lighting and intimate setting. Our server was prompt and attentive to us the entire time. The food itself was outstanding. We will definitely return!”
“OK place for dinner. The seafood pasta dish was nice, however, it only had 4 medium sized shrimp! The ahi tuna was very good. The noise level was above normal, which made it difficult to have a normal conversation. Kay was an excellent server. The house salad was boring. The carrot cake was huge enough for 4 people and very tasty, a must! The crème burle was OK. Overall, the pricing is high when compared to the other steakhouses.”
“We had a 5pm reservation for a party of 4 and arrived to see several parties waiting to be seated. It’s understandable that the restaurant would be busy on Mother’s Day, but they seemed to have overbooked causing quality to fall across the board. Our party waited for about 15 minutes and were seated shortly after in the back corner of an annex room. It was chilly in the room and loud with chatter of surrounding parties. The table was folded in half underneath, which made it hard for our knees to scoot in. The table size was smaller than we've had previously. An exhausted server came to take our order asking for drink orders, appetizers, and salad orders at first pass. Thankfully, we are well-versed on Stoney River’s offerings and were ready to go. However, our starter came out immediately. We asked the person who delivered the appetizer if we could have water (still waiting on alcoholic beverages too). The server came back around shocked that it was delivered and made a comment to throw the kitchen under the bus. While delivering the waters, she asked if we wanted to go ahead and order entrees, not yet having received our cocktails. We politely requested she come back later. We were feeling like the goal was just to shove us out the door. She mentioned it would only take 15 minutes after she put the order in. Once our waters arrived, we noticed the lemon wedge on the shrimp cocktail appetizer was discolored with a gray cast on the inside. We usually delight in a lemon squeeze for shrimp cocktail and were disappointed. Our salads arrived and one was acceptable, but the wedge was hardly dressed. It usually is accompanied by a bleu cheese dressing, but this seemed to just be crumbles of cheese on dry lettuce. My wife and I both noted the lack of enjoyability compared to our four prior experiences. The alcohol was delivered after we were half through our salads. We ordered our entrees and also requested rolls at this juncture. The server came back and cleared our salad and bread plates. We reminded her we still wanted the rolls. When the rolls arrived, we were left sharing one knife and one bread plate for the whole table. Then there was some downtime. It was closer to 25-30 minute wait for our entrees after ordering. The time came for our entrees (10 oz filets) to arrive and none of us received a steak knife. We asked the man who delivered the food for knives and another plate. And then the server when she came around. She asked if someone else was getting them. It took 5-10 minutes to receive those items, which is disappointing considering we had steak and they were growing cold. By the time we were able to cut into them, they were just average. Not juicy, and definitely not warm. The whipped potatoes for the other couple was adequately prepared. My wife and I shared potatoes au gratin and they were most disappointing moment of our meal. We have loved them on previous visits. These were dry and overdone. No creaminess. They fell apart and stuck to the bottom of the pan. Additionally, we had ordered béarnaise sauce, which arrived like a paste rather than a sauce and had no hint of tarragon. I noted it was flavorless. I also struggled to receive water refills throughout the meal. I sat with an empty glass until after our entree had arrived. The server also expected folks to pick up their water glasses and grab the new utensils from her hands directly, which is fine in a casual setting, but more off-putting for this restaurant. We had been accustomed to the seamless experience. Our server also worked hard to upsell us on bottle of wine, extra sides, and desserts. Whenever we would say “no thank you”, she seemed to be unhappy in her tone or continue to over explain why we should reconsider. It was more uncomfortable than we’ve experienced in the past. We normally DO order dessert, but didn't want to have another disappointing component to an expensive meal. Had we never been to this restaurant before, I would not be interested in returning.”
“I hate to leave a bad review because I used to consider Stoney River one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Louisville.i took my friend out for food & drinks to celebrate her birthday. Order a few appetizers & wine. I ordered my dinner to go. I ordered lamb chops well done. I opened them up to eat the next day and the lamb chops were completely raw! I spent around $200 total and left at $25 tip because the waiter was great. I wish I had checked my food before leaving. I hate to waste money”
