The single inspiration that lead to the establishment of Hatsuhana was nothing more than the desire to introduce unsurpassed sushi and sashimi to New Yorkers. We’ve always felt that every restaurant should have something special that they want to share. Since the first day we opened our doors in 1976, we have been a sushi specialty restaurant. This has helped us maintain our focus on sushi and excel at the one thing that mattered most.
“I love this place! It never ceases to amaze. I'm a long time return customer and it's wonderful that quality is always constant, and I never had a negative experience in all my years of going here.”
“The most authentic top quality sushi I’ve ever had. I understand why they are in business so long! The fatty tuna was buttery and soft and the wasabi was legit wasabi! Ken was a great help with choosing our entrees! Will be coming back for sure”
“I recently visited Hatsuhana, and it was a great experience. The sushi was delicious, very fresh, and beautifully prepared. All the dishes we tried were excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal. The pricing is also very reasonable for the quality you get, and overall it is not very expensive by New York standards. Definitely a great choice for sushi in Manhattan.”
“Amazing food & service. The staff are incredibly kind and the manager is amazing! Everyone is so welcoming, we had the best time at dinner 10/10”
“This was the most authentic Japanese dining experience I’ve had in New York City—it genuinely felt like being transported back to Japan. The sushi was exceptionally fresh, inventive, and beautifully executed. The atmosphere was equally impressive, closely resembling a traditional Japanese restaurant, further enhanced by staff who primarily spoke Japanese. A standout detail was the presentation of the sushi over various types of seaweed, adding both flavor and a thoughtful touch. We ordered the miso cod appetizer, which was enjoyable, though the portion size felt small relative to the price, and I likely wouldn’t order it again. Overall, the quality of the fish and the immersive atmosphere made for a memorable and enjoyable experience. The restaurant was quite busy, so reservations are strongly recommended. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a Japanese culinary experience.”
