“Everything was excellent and probably the best Asian fusion restaurant available right now in the City. The steak's tare was nice, it's a tsukune but with dry ages steak pretty much. The yuzukosho is fine, I get the intent, but not peppery enough. Loved the salad, the tahini was not heavy at all, just right.”
“Came here for my birthday dinner and the food is phenomenal! Every dish perfectly fuses Japanese and Italian flavors - my favorite was definitely the crab. The ambiance is cozy and romantic, with lots of couples around. Service was also attentive, and our server made sure to explain each dish to us. Price point is bit high, but reasonable for the food quality. Overall, a great place for a date night or celebratory dinner.”
“Once in a blue moon, there is a restaurant where every dish you order is exactly right. That was our experience at Kiko, where we enjoyed our date night. Kiko, an Asian-American restaurant in SoHo from husband and wife team chef Alex Chang and sommelier Lina Goujjane, has quickly become one of those places people quietly recommend to each other. Since opening last November, it has already landed on Esquire’s Best New Restaurants list and earned a strong review from New York Magazine. After dinner there, it was easy to see why. The space is cozy and intimate, with an atmosphere that makes you want to settle in. It feels like a hidden gem in SoHo, warm, lively, and just the right setting for a celebratory dinner. Chang’s cooking reflects his multicultural background, born in Hong Kong to a Chinese father and Mexican-American mother, and trained internationally from Pujol in Mexico City to kitchens across Japan and Europe. The menu moves fluidly between influences while staying grounded in thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking. Lina’s beverage program carries that same East-meets-West sensibility, pairing the food with distinctive sakes, thoughtful wines, and refined cocktails. By the end of the night we realized there had not been a single miss, making it a birthday dinner that felt both special and effortless. Must-Orders: Pink moon oysters Razor clams Dungeness crab Maine lobster crispy rice Lychee highball Nashi highball”
“My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here and we absolutely LOVED it. There are very few restaurants in NYC that are really *honest*-- honestly serving good food and beverages with a smile and a warm atmosphere instead of catering to big brands, big money, and mediocre taste; Kiko is as honest as it gets. The working fireplace is a beautiful touch in the front room (we sat at the bar), giving the whole restaurant a nice aroma and visual appeal. We started with the Dungeness Crab (can't miss), which is a great make-your-own hand roll type situation. The silky tofu was excellent as well, then we moved on to the mushroom mafaldine (freshly made in house!) and another can't-miss, the striploin. The steak is served with a rich soy and raw egg yolk so when you break the egg and mix it, the soy cures it to a jammy consistency-- phenomenal with each bite of steak. What are you waiting for? Make a reservation now-- they're open 7 days a week!”
“This small Chinese spot keeps things simple with a limited, focused menu, which actually works in its favor. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and the dishes we ordered were rich in flavor and nicely presented. A couple of items leaned toward sauces and textures that weren’t quite my personal style, but the overall quality was undeniable. Service was smooth, and the clean, modern aesthetic gave the place a great vibe. Definitely worth visiting if you appreciate well-executed classics done with care.”
