Manny’s Bistro is a classic French restaurant that blends the best of New York City and Paris. Come to this cozy spot in New York’s leafy Upper West Side to try our duck a l’orange, steak frites, sole meunière, biodynamic French wines and more.
“Manny's continues to be the quintessential UWS cozy French bistro. It is like your favorite blanket welcoming you home. Starting with the warm bread and savory pâté, to a flavorful tuna tartare, you're on your way. The magret de canard and the trout almondine are incredible. But don't overlook fresh oysters, mussels, traditional escargot... and if lamb chops are on the menu, go for it! The service is top notch and Manny is always there to make sure your experience is perfection. If I could, I'd make Manny's an extension of my own home: a place to be comforted and satiated with a warm and personal embrace.”
“Such a lovely place. All the food is fresh and absolutely delicious. The staff are so kind and will remember you and even get into conversation with you. Food is so pretty and so delicious. I love going here with my family and taking visitors here. You should definitely come”
“Had a delightful evening enjoying a wonderfully prepared meal with friends. Friendly, attentive, courteous staff, intimate atmosphere, no music blasting out of speakers, delicious food. Manny, the owner, is friendly and even chatted with us for a few minutes.”
“We love Manny’s Bistro! An iconic neighborhood spot that brings joy to many through music and delicious food. We very much enjoyed our sole and steak dinners last weekend. Perfectly prepared and fantastic service with live music. A gem!”
“I dine out most nights when I am out of town and rarely post except a star review on where I book -- unless something happens that is very different than what comes across in reviews. We decided on this restaurant because my friend who lives in the neighborhood DID have a good experience once before and I was coming up from downtown for dinner. Our dinner was terrible. Why? (1) Order was wrong (we ordered a filet, they brought hanger steak; waiter said I thought you said 'en le' i was like what is that -- he said that is hangar steak in french and I said did I speak any French before? why would someone say ONE word in French and filet is so close in sound? I said you should repeat orders back to people so they know they are heard, a lot of waiters do that. (2) They took the hangar steak back and returned with a filet -- which we had asked for 'medium' -- most of the steak was RAW. I showed the waiter and asked him to show the chef because I know lodging a complaint without evidence is a job hazard but it turned out doing so WITH evidence is more so -- and I was NOT returning the steak I was sharing what happened -- I had enough from the outer edge which I had eaten so it was obvious but 2/3 of steak was left -- instead HE SENT A WAITER TO PICK IT UP WHO BROUGHT US A DOGGY BAG WITH THE STEAK! Cannot make this up. When I explained this to him he said oh I thought you said don't tell the chef (and of course did not acknowledge why I would not want to take said offense home...nor did he repeat his wishful response back to us). (3) our cocktails did not arrive until AFTER the salad service was almost or was cleared -- don't remember exact timing but we had finished salad. My friend was a long time server at a VERY busy west side restaurant a few blocks south back 'in the day' and had seen MUCH busier times (as I said when we told the waiter he should repeat orders back to diners especially when there is music he said 'it's very busy - it was NOT see photo -- though there were people listening to music from street and they had one large family party eating that left before we did -- and he said DON'T TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB when I said please repeat back to people -- they feel heard -- obviously he had a different experience. I still left a 33% tip but I have not left such a low tip -- NEVER less than 100% -- IN YEARS -- I know it is hard work but this low level of service at the early hour of 5:30 should be noted. And yes, the owner was there he went up with the band to say something but was not involved in this exchange. Don't waste your time -- go elsewhere.”
