Since the first Parm opened in New York City’s Little Italy in 2011, the MFG restaurant’s take on Italian-American soul food has reached iconic status. From the prized Chicken Parm to the homemade meatballs to the Rigatoni Carbone, the menu draws from the flavors that shaped chefs Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi's culinary childhood memories. They more than met their goal of making the best versions of these recognizable dishes, while remaining faithful to their history, serving everything in a fun, familial environment.
“A must try! I have never had such a spectacular rigatoni carbone & chicken parm. The mozzarella sticks and the cesar salad were also phenomenal. The service was amazing! My only complaint would be how loud and tight the tables are from one another. I do wish it was more of an intimate setting but overall amazing. I will be returning every time I visit!”
“Had a reservation for 6 on a very busy Saturday night. Place can get loud and crowded, but we were tucked into a lovely corner in the back room, so didn’t have much of a problem talking. Our waitress was super attentive and friendly. Food came out fast and portions are huge. We joke that this place is “ American Italian” - so if you like parm, this is the place to go! Our table had an eggplant parm ( for the vegetarian among us) and it was good/ if a tad bland. Two orders of shrimp penne were delicious and packed some heat from the red pepper. We had a lively, fun meal. One of my favorite things about this place: large bottles of fabulous NY tap water placed on the tables and replaced often. Free! Only minor complaints: the croutons in the Caesar ( which is not served chopped) were so large as to be ridiculous. They weren’t eaten. And the fried calamari had more fried green peppers than actual squid, so wouldn’t recommend. ( though two dipping sauce options were appreciated). Wine by the glass was also average. But listen- this place doesn’t claim to be “fine dining”. We had a large hungry group in NYC, and it was nice to be able to get a filling meal without breaking the bank. We’ll be back when people visit again.”
“Came here on the weekend with no reservation around 12pm. Good for small and large party size and family friendly. The portions are very big and they allow takeout for leftover food. The servers are attentive and regularly checked in on you. Pictured are the mozzarella sticks and calamari for appetizers. Chicken Parm for entree with a side of pasta (with the option of salad). Everything was crispy and not oily. We been going to Parm for many years and everything is always so delicious.”
“Very dissatisfied with the food. My friend and I came for lunch and did not have a good experience. Overall staff was friendly and atmosphere was fine but the food was just not good. It is not authentic Italian. The most disappointing was the Cesar salad which was super basic and worst of all had a bunch of bugs in it. When we told the staff they informed us that they def washed it, but it’s just not possible. There were at least 5 bugs crawling in the lettuce. It was super gross. We ended up getting the cucumbers as a replacement and it wasn’t good either. It’s literally just sliced cucumbers with buffalo sauce on it. We also had the rigatoni carbone and chicken. Again, nothing special about it, it just wasn’t good. You can make better pasta at home. Overall food was just super disappointing, would not recommend at all especially when it’s nyc where there’s tons of better Italian restaurants.”
“I got this to go from Uber eats. I'm sure the restaurant has the decor and the service should be on par to match. We ordered the chicken parm with tomato rotini . The eggplant Parmesan slice and the cannolis 3 for 12 dollars. The chicken was a bit dry, I'll blame delivery for that . It probably tastes better fresh from the restaurant. Eggplant Parmesan was a slice of heaven for which I appreciate because it's a painstaking process to make. The cannolis, was the finisher I was hoping for. When you see the video please understand. That every single bakery in Staten Island can make a better cannolis fresh right in front of you. To those who would never go to Staten Island because of the demographics or political ideology needs to understand this. They may not agree with you but they know how to make a great cannoli. I wasn't just disappointed with the lack of filling , but the expectation that the customer wouldn't know the difference. There's no amount of returning 12 dollars to me from Uber Eats that would change my mind about this. If you charge the prices you do for authentic Italian food , follow through is expected. Prove me wrong.”
