“We just had a lovely time here. The staff was so kind (I think our bartender's name was Sati- he had a Malort shirt on and as a Chicagoan that was beyond cool). For food we had the potato churros, porcini arancini, and the fried halloumi. All excellent. My husband and I each had a cocktail (the preserved lemon) which we enjoyed immensely. And was explained to us perfectly as to how best to enjoy it. I also had a glass of wine. We will definitely try and make it back next time we're in town. We generally like to stay in the Chelsea area, so it won't be hard to go back.”

“Thyme used to be a fun, charming spot that I genuinely enjoyed visiting and bringing out-of-town friends to. I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5⭐️ service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that “the place changed a lot.” That’s fair — places evolve — but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn’t reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn’t make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar, the complex fun drink in crazy glasses with beautiful presentation are gone… and the fun talk with mixologist are gone as well. It was just lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.”

“Thyme Bar was underwhelming. Let’s start with the positives… The service was friendly, the space was stylish and the food was good. The olives were really very good. The potato churros were great as well. Unfortunately the drinks were underwhelming. We had 4 in our party and we all tried different drinks the first round. None were fans, so we tried each others drinks and were equally disappointed. We ordered different drinks the second round, and were each underwhelmed again. There are so many great spots for cocktails in NYC. I think Thyme bar misses the mark with quality and execution of cocktails.”

“I had a very disappointing experience at Thyme NYC. First, the drinks were extremely underwhelming. The wine (or pairings) lacked any noticeable balance or craftsmanship — it honestly felt like there was no thoughtful preparation behind them. Second, the service was almost nonexistent. We were not offered water throughout most of the meal, no one checked in on us, and at one point we were literally being ignored even while trying to get attention. For a tasting menu experience, this is unacceptable. Third, and most frustrating, there was a mandatory 20% charge that was never clearly disclosed beforehand. To make things worse, we were asked to pay before the final dish was even served — and at that point, the last round of drinks hadn’t even come out yet. That felt incredibly unprofessional and uncomfortable. Overall, this did not feel like a proper tasting menu experience at all. Between the poor service, lack of transparency, and disappointing drinks, I would not recommend this place.”
