Jacqueline is a Seafood restaurant in the Clinton neighborhood of Portland.
“In a city known for its culinary daring, Jacqueline in Portland operates with a quieter confidence. There are no gimmicks here, only pristine technique and a deep reverence for the sea. On a recent evening, the meal was nothing short of transportive. The Grilled Oysters arrive with a whisper of smoke and a knob of garlic butter—a masterclass in restraint, allowing the briny liquor to be the star. From there, the kitchen demonstrates its command of finfish. The Halibut is a monument to simplicity: a snow-white fillet, cooked to a buttery medium-rare, its flesh yielding like a perfect custard. The Rockfish offers a contrasting texture, its flaky, meaty substance holding up to a lively herb broth. Yet it is the Branzino that haunts the memory—a whole fish, expertly deboned, with skin shatteringly crisp and flesh as sweet and delicate as the sea breeze. For those who think they have no room for dessert, the Matcha Cake will prove them wrong. It is a dense, earthy marvel, barely sweet, with a deep umami richness that lingers like a sigh. Jacqueline is not just a restaurant. It is a reminder that the finest meals are not loud affairs, but quiet, perfect ones.”
“Wonderful dinner. Fresh seafood. Raw oysters from Puget Sound. Enjoyed scallop and yellowfin crudo. Delicious halibut and rockfish. All preparations are novel and balanced between tastes -- sweet, sour, salty, buttery & umami flavors. Excellent & affordable wine selections. Far out cocktails. We will be going back with friends and family.”
“Jaqueline truly gets it right across the board. The food is exceptional—fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and consistently impressive. The service is just as strong. The vibe ties it all together, with a polished yet relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. Definitely a gem in Portland!”
“10/10! We loved this experience. We ordered the tasting menu which came with so much fish, lots of opportunities to introduce our palates to new and rich flavors like hamachi, congee, and specialty sardines, oysters, and mushrooms. The one downside is that even though we did have a reservation, we still had to wait for our table. Thankfully they were able to seat us at the bar until our table was ready. Staff members went above and beyond kind and attentive, especially the bartender. We can’t wait to bring our seafood loving friends and family here.”
“Everything we ate here was delicious but the most surprisingly delightful and unique bite we had was the focaccia dipped in their kombu oil. The focaccia itself was great but whatever magic they infuse into that oil is exceptional. Also, if they’ve got the tom kha mussels, you should order them too.”
