Sizzle and smoke define Asado Cucina Argentina, the South Sound’s only Argentine-themed steakhouse and a staple restaurant of the trendy Sixth Avenue dining district. Heady smoke wafts from the display kitchen where chefs sear beef over a mesquite grill. Low lighting is moody by night, bright and beautiful by day because of the expansive garage doors that roll up in the summertime, spilling diners onto Sixth Avenue. A mural evokes pastoral Argentina. Metalwork and heavy doses of deep-hued wood create a rustic urban palette. Social by design, with a large chef’s table straddling the display kitchen. Bench booth seating connects diners to neighbors, but without being overly intrusive. The word “asado” means a gathering of friends for a grill party – the Argentine equivalent of an American patio barbecue – and that theme translates into a convivial gathering spot for friends and family. “Went in yesterday. It was busy. The staff were composed and patient and friendly. The food came out relatively quick and it was stunning. I got the bolognese which was just the right amount of sausage spice and succulent tomato sauce. I test tasted everyone else’s. The burger and fries were also amazing and elevated to fit the dining experience. The pork with the apples? A burst of flavor in each bite. The ribeye was also tender and delicious. This place cares about their food and took great care of us. I will be coming back.”
“Was presently surprised by the food here. The polenta and lamb was to die for. Vibe was very cute. Staff was kind. Parking wasn’t super clear… we had to go inside and ask staff where to go. They had us park in a lot next door.”
“This place is cozy and perfect place for a date night. We made our reservation through Resy. Got seated right away when we came . Our server was sweet and attentive. The food was very very good. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked! The bolognese was al dente and flavorful. My husband really enjoined the empanadas! We will Definitely be back ❤️”
“We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Asado! We walked in at around 7pm on Valentine’s Day without reservations and we were able to find seating at the bar. The bar counter was surprisingly large and spacious. The cocktails were delicious! But the star of the show was definitely the carrots, great pairing with Greek yogurt! My husband enjoyed his steak as well. I got the parilla mixta sampler, unfortunately all the sides were carbs and I couldn’t substitute it for anything else. Our appetizers arrived after all our main courses, seems like a kitchen mix up, but we’ll attribute it to the holiday rush. The ambiance was nice, it was noisy, but not too loud for a conversation. All in all, worth the visit!”
“Very good food and service. Empanadas and steaks were very good. We went on a Friday night and they were very busy. I would recommend reservations, for the weekend at least. It was very noisy, but that didn't bother us too much. We are from out of town but if we are ever back here, we'd visit again.”
