“This Estate it is one of the best I ever been. The quality and the number of the art collection is incredible . The price for what you see and if you are an enthusiast about older times style and wealth display also art that you haven't see because it's been in private hands , this is the place . It is pristine and beautifull. If you live in DC or on the surrounding areas nees to visit it. If you are a tourist it's a place to visit the life of DC elites.”
“Extremely beautiful estate!! Prepare to walk... a lot of beautiful gardens and the mansion has 2 floors. Gardens were covered in flowers, except the rose one due to weather being so hot, however it still had a couple of roses! The greenhouse was open and it had a bunch of orchids of different species! The Japanese Garden was my favorite! I believe it's wheelchair accessible.”
“I was pleasantly surprised. The museum was filled with incredible collections. The presentment of the many items were easy to view. The displays were clean and the illumination just right. The outside grounds and gardens were amongst the best I have seen in one location. I would recommend the Hillwood Estate and Museum to anyone that appreciates fine antiquities, packaged within a lovely museum and surrounded by beautiful gardens.”
“This is a wonderful estate/museum to visit. Lots of history, outstanding art, furniture and jewelry to view. Marjorie was a interesting woman and had the foresight to collect important pieces and share them with the public. Lastly, the gardens were out of this world! I went in April and all the azaleas were in full bloom. If you're going to Washington this is a must see. They also have a very nice gift shop.”
“This museum is truly a little treasure among all the museums in Washington, DC ✨. Even though it isn’t huge, that actually makes it feel more cozy and special. It reminded me a lot of the Wallace Collection in London — elegant, intimate, and full of fascinating pieces. Walking through the galleries feels like discovering hidden stories behind every exhibit 🖼️. If you decide to visit, I highly recommend joining one of the guided tours. The guides share so many interesting facts and details that you might easily miss on your own, and it makes the whole experience much richer 📚. You start to see the artworks and objects in a completely different way. Another lovely surprise is the garden 🌿. It’s not very big, but it’s incredibly charming and peaceful. It’s the perfect place to relax for a moment and enjoy the beauty around you. Overall, this museum is a wonderful experience that definitely shouldn’t be skipped if you’re exploring DC 😊.”
