Kani House - Woodstock is a Japanese restaurant in the Towne Lake neighborhood of Woodstock.
“We came for our first visit on Mother’s Day and I’m so glad we did! The food was just so delicious. Our server,John, was attentive and wonderful. There were 6 of us in a booth and we ordered appetizers, chirashi, katsu and galbi bento boxes and filet hibachi. We all said the same thing repeatedly, Wow this is really good. Wow this is a lot of food. Wow we really need to come back here again. Very impressed!”
“It has been a long time since I left Hawaii and got a CLEAN TASTE of what it is like to eat at home. I ordered the Sushi Shashimi combo while everyone else was ordering the Kani special. I understood why they were ordering the Kani special as you get chicken, steak, and shrimp. But Hibatchi was never really my thing. The entertaining part is watching them cook. But my eyes lit up when i saw they offered sashimi!!! Not just americanized sushi. The presentation was everything!! The boat they brought out was eye catching and beautiful. 2 people could easily share it. I took half of it home. The fish was fresh-feeling, plump, good texture, cool, and delicious. And they didn't skimp on the wasabi paste or the pickled ginger! It was just as I expected it: clean tasting, and delicious. It was my first time there and Ms. Song, Chris, and the gang were so attentive and nice. I will definitely return.”
“Kani House is my favorite hibachi place ever. My boyfriend and I go so often the employees recognize us every time we go! All the cooks are always kind and so funny. Most servers are also very attentive and friendly. We’ll always enjoy every meal here.”
“We’ve always enjoyed this hibachi place — the food is consistently great and we had a really nice dinner out tonight with friends. However, when we were leaving, we stopped in the bathroom and were absolutely disgusted by what we saw. There was sewage water all over the bathroom floor, it reeked of sewage, and sandbags were being used to try to absorb the liquid. The floor was wet and visibly contaminated, and it was shocking that they were still operating under these conditions, let alone having people wait an hour and a half for a table. This was extremely unsanitary and concerning from a health and safety standpoint. I truly hope this gets addressed immediately, because the food and experience are usually great — but this is unacceptable.”
“FOOD HAZARD AND NO MANAGEMENT I went to the Kani House Woodstock location on 8/24 and ordered the Volcano Roll and Hibachi entree. After just two pieces of the roll, I felt a large foreign object in my mouth and had to spit it out. It was a piece of plastic, easily over 2-3 inches long. I immediately and politely called the server over and informed them. They took the plate away. And that was it. Common sense says in a situation like this, either the chef or a manager should come out and apologize. Not here. I even hinted to the server multiple times, but nobody cared. The only response I got was, “We gave you a discount.” Really? This isn’t about money, it’s about basic manners and safety. When the check came, I saw they had applied a 10% discount. So basically, my potential health hazard was WORTH about $5 to them. Unbelievable. Kani House corporate seriously needs to retrain this location’s management and staff, or at the very least conduct another inspection. I would strongly advise against eating here.”
