El Vez

“Some places are old ye faithfuls for a reason and that can be said about El Vez. I’ve been coming here now for the better part of two decades ever since I was living in Philly as an undergrad. I was lookin for solid options for my quick 36 hours back in my old hometown and this could not have been a more clutch pick. Centrally located right downtown, open and sizable space including a seemingly always bumping bar, and the best food, drinks and service you could ask for. The servers made nothing of a cranky toddler who was with us at the table for as long as the kid and dad could put up with it. The area has changed a lot since I started going here and has only gotten nicer with all of Philadelphia buzzing around.”

“Such a lovely happy hour here. Great atmosphere, great food and fantastic non alcoholic options. Chris was our server, he was super helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Loved the NA beer and the cucumber fizz! I also recommend the queso dip as well! 5 stars.”

“I highly recommend El Vez! We started at the bar for a drink while waiting for a table. The bartenders were attentive and made an amazing spicy pineapple margarita on the rocks with tajin rim. Once we were seated, the tuna coconut ceviche was melt in your mouth delicious, with a hint of spice. I ordered the Crispy Mahi-Mahi tacos and they were perfect. Leslie was our server and she was wonderful.”

“I would go to this place just for the interior ambiance alone! There is so much to look at. We sat at a plush round booth with our party of seven. We all ordered the lunch special. I had the half Mexican chop salad, a chicken enchilada and a carnita soft taco. We shared nachos and guacamole. The meal came with refried beans. Everything was so amazing! I'm not a refried beans person but these were so good! I had a house margherita and they had different rimming options (sugars/salt)... perfect! The chicken enchilada melted in my mouth. So tender with an incredibly delicious sauce! The lime dressing for the chop salad was a great choice. I'll be back! 👍”

“Corinne, our waitress, was absolutely amazing! She was so attentive and patient, and she let me savor my meal without ever making me feel rushed for the next guest. I had the steak tacos, which were incredibly well‑seasoned & the grilled corn on the cob was charred to absolute perfection!”
