“We had a phenomenal dinner on the gorgeous, beautifully landscaped back patio at Pennyroyal. We started with a couple of glasses of wine from their excellent, locally focused selection. For the main course, I had the campfire trout, which was absolutely amazing—served head and tail on, perfectly prepared, and beautifully seasoned. My husband ordered the Walleye, a seasonal favorite that was cooked to perfection. We finished the evening with a delicious rhubarb crisp, accompanied by a rich espresso and hot tea. It was a perfect night out with top-tier service from Nick and incredible farm-forward food from the kitchen. Expect to pay around $30 per person for the meal, plus an additional $15 per cocktail. Highly recommend!”

“Came to Pennyroyal for breakfast and it did not disappoint! It was just my wife and I and at 915 AM on a Saturday it was about a 15 minute wait (don’t expect that to be the norm, it was packed in there). They do offer outside seating, but those orders should be placed at the carry-out window. The food was fresh and came out fast. My wife had a breakfast croissant sandwich (egg, bacon jam, and cheese). I had the “Birds Nest” skillet and all I can say is damn! The over medium eggs were perfect, the hashbrowns were nice and crispy, as were the bacon bits. The star of the dish for me was the French onion sour cream! If I wasn’t so full I probably would’ve ordered seconds. With that being said, we returned Sunday morning around 8 AM when they opened. We both had the birds nest and it was just as good as the day before. 10/10 would recommend. Their pastries and muffins were great as well.”

“This place was amazing! Our food was great. The chef knows what he is doing! The waiter was kind and the atmosphere was extremely nice and comfortable for a date night. We had our four kids with us and it was still a pleasant experience. The hostess gave us several suggestions on where to go for our visit and was very personal!”

“One of my favorite restaurants in the whole world. I am so thankful it just so happens to be located in my home town. The amazing Chefs are nationally recognized and have translated their culinary skills into interesting, yet approachable (sometimes even whimsical) meals. There is truly something for anyone anytime here. Breakfast, including a to-go pastry and coffee window is delicious. This morning I had an incredibly composed dish that included a bed of puy lentils and braised mustard greens topped by 2 perfectly runny eggs and a bit of chilli crisp. Also at the table was a stack of the world’s best Michigan blueberry pancakes with local maples syrup. Speaking of local, nearly every ingredient is from a family farm…and lots of them are available at the onsite provisions barn. Lunch, dinner, cocktails and the wine selection are even better. But I’m a dessert guy. The Basque cake is heaven…imagine turning a sugar cookie into a warm, indulgent cake! Always watch out for special offerings…like the Maple Dinner or seasonal pastries or holiday cookie boxes. No fuss here about anything…just amazing food…created, cooked and delivered by great people. On the “not fun” part…everyone knows this is amazing. It’s also pretty small and located in a crazy busy resort town. Unless you get lucky, expect waits and everything that comes along with that. Totally worth it every time!”

“Probably the best breakfast here. Drink and food were placed aesthetically and they were delicious! They have a great atmosphere and waitresses were nice. When we left we saw a lot of people waiting for their Togo order outside. I’m sure they have great pastry and we plan to come back again in the future if we are around.”
