PiDGiN is a Michelin-recommended restaurant in the heart of Vancouver's historic Gastown neighborhood. We cook at the crossroads—French technique, Southeast Asian brightness, Japanese precision, Pacific Northwest bounty. Twelve years of irreverent, inventive food in a city built by people from everywhere. Neighbourhood restaurant. Serious kitchen. Open door.
“Service was amazing from the moment we arrived at the restaurant. The host was pleasant and there was excellent communication between front and back of house. When our server poured our waters we informed him of our dietary restrictions and he was already aware. We had a party of 3 and tried the Dine Out Vancouver 2026 8-course tasting menu for $70/person. Each course was served family style but the portions were small. The server explained each course and adjustments were made according to our dietary restrictions. 1) Tsukune chicken skewer: a bit dry, but the egg yolk dip helped. 2) Nori roll: bite-sized and I really liked the texture. The rice was super soft, which was a nice contrast from the crispy nori. 3) Beet tartare (normally ahi tuna tartare but I had the vegetarian version): packed with flavour on a nori crisp. 4) Mushroom duxelle croquette: I love mushrooms so I loved this dish. It tasted like a mushroom tempura and the batter was nice and light. 5) Japanese sweet potato ricotta agnolotti: a bit salty, but we enjoyed the rich flavours. It only came with a few pieces but the pasta was definitely made fresh. 6) Lingcod: this was one of the bigger dishes. I liked the sauce that was smothered in hazelnuts. 7) Bulgogi beef striploin: this was probably our fave dish, served as build-your-own lettuce wraps. I added foie gras for an extra $28 and it was heavenly. The foie was thick, oily and melted in my mouth. They have a foie gras rice bowl on their regular menu and I would go back just for that. 8) Hojicha posset: this was a refreshing dessert and the flavours were well balanced.”
“We visited during the annual city-wide restaurant month and tried the multi-course tasting menu. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful. Standouts were chicken lollipops in a soy sauce with an egg yolk, tuna tartare, ling cod served on a light fresh tomato sauce, and a take on classic Korean barbecue with grilled beef. But everything was excellent. The space is beautiful and the service friendly and attentive Our new favorite restaurant in Vancouver!”
“I was curious to try this place and I’m glad I did. The service is warm, friendly and relaxed. We went with the server’s recommendations and I’m glad we did. They were different from what we would have chosen and they were all excellent. The foie grad on brioche was amazing as were the scallops. The smaller plates are easy to share and a nice way to try more.”
“Came here with our group of 4 so we were able to order a variety of dishes. Loved most of the dishes and not the mention the service was excellent and the servers were knowledgeable. Oysters were fresh with garnish that complemented the flavor Beef tendon chicharron were so fresh and crispy that we had a second order - can’t miss this!! Kimchi croquette was a surprise and was very well prepared with the right amount of crunch Ox tongue skewers were tasty, but personally would have preferred it a bit of crispiness to the bite. Overall with the sambal sauce added the savory flavor Octopus skewers with the puree was on the milder side, but the octopus was very tender Hokkaido scallops was better without the coconut cream as it took away the true flavor of the scallops Roti canai was piping hot and flaky and paired with the rich flavors of dipping sauce is making my mouth water as I’m typing this. We had to place a second order of this as well Korean rice cake had a bit of twist from the traditional flavor with the crunch from the hazelnut and wasn’t spicy or tangy, and still hit the spot Foie gras rice bowl was nicely seared. The chestnut and daikon lightened the richness of the foie gras and went well with the dish Beef cheeks were super tender. The parsnip purée and confit carrots added freshness to the rendang sauce Their special pasta dish with shitake mushroom and an onsen egg was one of my favorite that evening We closed the night off with the pavlova pandan sorbet and quince tart”
“This place has a lot of mixed reviews. Not many fine dining Asian fusion places so naturally as a person who has tried a bunch of Michelin star restaurants and all the high end places of Vancouver I had to try out. The food was mostly pretty but the taste and coherence of the flavours was atrocious. 250$ meal was the worst i ever had unfortunately. First off oysters are oysters I guess, fresh and normal. Duck was super chewy but was good, you practically had to gnaw at it out go for a full bite. Octopus was super chewy overcooked. Papaya salad was strange… peanut sauce with papaya but no meat so was like having half a salad roll Tofu was petty awful, inch thick layer of xo sauce oil with some soft tofu and mushrooms, super greasy and just tasted salty Beef empanadas were not edible, wayyyyyyy too salty like they dropped a tea spoon of salt into a tiny 11$ empanada. Trout was undercooked, not flaky, skin so chewy and not pan fried so it was like chewing gum. Flavour of the sauce did not work at all with the dish. Beef cheek was cooked perfectly but they literally forgot to season it so tasted like nothing. Whereas the rendang was overly salty and pungent. Dessert was good, ice cream had good flavour but the meringue was way too sweet for it. Overall a very poor experience considering for just a bit more you could have Anna Lena or Burdock instead. Maybe if they slashed the price 75% then it would meet the quality it deserves. But I guess the food looks pretty”
