“Pulpo Negro is, without question, the best restaurant I have eaten at in Hampshire — and I would go as far as saying it deserves a place among the very best in the country. I recently visited with my husband and a friend, and we all agreed that it was sensational from start to finish. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is electric. Vibrant, warm, and buzzing. It strikes that perfect balance between lively and intimate that so few restaurants manage to pull off. The service matched the surroundings every step of the way. Every member of staff was attentive and professional, but a particular mention must go to Paddy, who was amazing. Charismatic, friendly, and genuinely passionate — he’s exactly the kind of person who elevates a great meal into an unforgettable evening. Then there’s the food. The Padron Peppers were a perfect opener, The Iberico Ham was nothing short of sensational; silky, deeply flavoured, and clearly sourced with real care. But the undisputed highlight of the night was the Iberico Grilled Pork. I am not exaggerating when I say it is some of the best pork I have ever eaten. Pulpo Negro is a must-visit. Full stop. Do yourself a favour and book a table, you won’t regret it.”

“Attended Pulpo Negro for lunch, had a table in the Cellar, despite the name. The Cellar space is cosy and stylish. The tapas was excellent, also ordered the tortilla, all the food was authentic. Staff were very attentive and knowledgeable and gave excellent advice because my wife preferred to have the steak more well done, they suggested to cook one side a little longer whilst providing another side more rare, which was very thoughtful, overall the food and service was excellent.”

“We had 8 people on Valentine’s Day and it was perfect for all allergies and the staff were so friendly before when booking and organising as well as on the day sorting orders. We had a great selection of tapas and pudding. There was excellent wine and coffee options. Everyone had what they wanted even with gluten dairy and egg and soya allergies and vegetarians with a tendency to vegan. Even though we were downstairs it was an excellent vibe with a window for natural light. It was so helpful there was a gender neutral toilet downstairs. We found parking on the road easily. The food was great especially the pulpo and gambas and fire meats. They were flexible with sometimes putting sauces on the side etc. Overall great.”

“Came here with a large group for my wife's birthday meal. We opted for the chefs' menu. All the courses were amazing. Simple food cooked to perfection, exactly what is expected of tapas. All the courses complemented each other. The added steak was so good. Service was warm and informed. I can highly recommend going here. Can't wait till I go again.”

“This Michelin recommended Spanish restaurant is tucked away in the countryside town of Alresford. The most thing about eating here can be to find nearby parking However, once inside, you’re in the hands of good chefs. There are an array of tempting dishes on the menu but be sure to check out the specials board. It’s there you’ll find the cuts of meat and seafood available that evening. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. The friendly staff will guide you if you need help. My wife also gave a special shout out to the rosé wine”
