“Delicious lunch with a few starters and a bottle of wine shared between friends. The steak was great value and tasted fantastic - we got the Rioja reserva and it also tasted fantastic - we would have thought it cost more than it did. We all loved the sliders and the manchego mac n cheese (and the steak!! Of course!!!) Potatoes were also excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive - great experience! We went right for when they opened and it was quiet to start (Saturday afternoon) though it quickly filled up. I recommend reserving a table!”
“Great set menu offering for lunch and the food was incredible. Great attention to detail even down to the crusty fresh sourdough and quality olive oil. I highly recommend the mussels and the pork steak. Very authentic Galician food. Don’t go and order the Scottish beef steak on the lunch menu. It’s a good steak - but there are far more exciting dishes on the menu to try. Staff were super attentive, without being overbearing.”
“Tucked away on North Castle Street in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town , The Spanish Butcher is a cut above your average steakhouse. The star of the show is the Galician beef — the steak is on another level, well seasoned, cooked beautifully and incredibly tender. One diner even called the Galician Fillet the best steak they’d ever had — so juicy they didn’t even need the sauce. The sweet potato side was a lovely contrast: smoky, soft, and just sweet enough to complement the rich beef perfectly. It’s on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special occasion. Highly recommend”
“We were recommended this lovely place, it did not disappoint. We had a lovely warm welcome as we walked in and enjoyed a quick pre dinner drink at the bar before moving to our table. Once at the table we had the pleasure of being served by Reece, a lovely waiter whom was not just friendly but knowledgeable and not too in your face. He was able to direct us to a lovely bottle of Spanish red wine to enjoy with our meal. Now the food, we shared the scallops to start and I must say they were cooked to perfection with a lovely compliment of a gorgeous puree. For the main we shared a 500g of the presa iberico which came with two complimentary sides and sauces. The meat was cooked to a beautiful medium (of which we asked for) and had a lovely charring on the outside which added a beautiful flavour and texture to the meat. This place is not expensive but it is not cheap either and it is worth every penny for it. We had a lovely time and we will recommend it to anyone who visits this lovely city. Thank you”
“Warm, cosy, and serving delicious food, easily made it to my top Edinburgh restaurants this winter. The place was buzzing from early evening, and it wasn’t a surprise once I got to try the food. The Short Rib melted away with every bite, while the Ibérico was cooked to perfection and paired so well with the Potatoes and Mojo Verde. I’ve had my share of brûlées, but the Chocolate Crèma Catalana here could possibly take the crown. A shot of Amontillado was the perfect way to wrap up a fulfilling evening.”
