“Emily was a superstar! One of the best steaks we’ve ever had. We started with the smocked mackerel salad and the potted beef and bacon and Yorkshire puddings. For mains we had the Sirloin steaks with beef dripping chips, sweet potato and bone marrow gravy. Everything was delicious and the staff were really lovely. Can’t wait to come back !”

“This was our second timing eating here and it was just as amazing as ever! Lisa was such a sweetheart of a server. She gave us excellent recommendations and managed to check in with us despite a busy Friday evening. She made our evening even better! The Caesar salad is the best we’ve had anywhere. The Fuller Fat Old Fashioned is incredible and so tasty. It was a great night. We love eating here and can’t wait to return on our next trip to Edinburgh.”

“What an amazing meal. Arrived solo for a 5.30 meal, had a glass of rosé to go with some oysters and bone marrow with onions. Lucky enough to have the roast (with a glass of Barolo) since it was Sunday. Food was tasty. The Sticky Toffee Pidding was probably the best in town. Service was impeccable. The host Johanna has been delightful and welcoming. Definitely a 5 stars recommendation. Hopefully will have a chance to come back and dine here again. Definitely recommend this place.”

“The staff made the night, so warm and entertaining, and the grand space was lovely. The food was enjoyable, though we arrived around 8:30 and it seemed like a they had run out of quite a few items. While the steak had a delicious char, it was slightly under the requested medium-rare, but the bearnaise sauce accompanying it was exceptionally good.”

“Booked long ago for my birthday having read a not to be missed occasion. Turned up early with the table not being ready then waited a further 15mins beyond our booked time as table required clearing..Now sat at the table and looking at drinks menu I asked for a pint of diet cola, I was told I couldn’t have as only bottles available… not sure why I couldn’t be offered 2 bottles in a pint glass I have no idea! Ordered a main, fillet steak and pepper sauce with greens.. which was cabbage.. followed with jersey potatoes, mushrooms and asparagus.. We waited for just over an hour for it to be served.. during this time we were never asked are we ok, if we required any further drinks.. just left it didn’t feel that special occasion that I was hoping for. The meal arrived with an apology for being late and it was delicious the steak was cooked beautifully. In summary The service and delivery was poor, the atmosphere kinda flat although noisy and the food was good but be prepared to wait for it.. and if your expecting anything for a special occasion like me then don’t. We left not giving a service charge which we would have left if we received the service we should have got..so lots of alternative places to look out for that may provide that touch..”
