“The Latin-inspired, vegetarian tasting menu was perfect for celebrating the 40th birthday of one of our party and for introducing 3 members to the concept of a tasting menu. High praise for the delightful contrast of textures, flavors of each one of the courses. Each was a surprise and fascinating. The servers, bartender, and staff were knowledgeable and fun. The kitchen staff was beaming when I asked to take their photo. I could tell that all the staff takes pride in their service. I also liked that the restaurant sound level was perfect. We could have a private conversation and the background was merely a murmur. Excellent restaurant design.”
“This was our first fine Michelin star dining experience and we didn't know what to expect of the service and the food. My partner and I did the longer course option, consisting of 12 courses. While some courses were larger than others, overall we felt like the experience justified the cost. The food had an interesting backstory, was unique, and delicious - even for a meat eater. There were flavors today that we hadn't yet tasted, adding to the experience. Included are photos of some of our favorites. Service was very attentive and well paced. If we had only one critique, it was that some servers seemed more confident than others while explaining the food - some were a bit hard to hear. Otherwise, kudos to the staff for a sophisticated and fun dining experience.”
“From the moment we walked in to the moment we left this was a 10/10 experience!! Spotlessly clean you notice immediately & I love anywhere that will take my coat! The server was so knowledgeable and just lovely! Creative and just delicious menu!! We did the six courses with the add on and left feeling full but not disgusting. Not one bad bite. Literally! Very memorable.”
“Went here to celebrate our anniversary dinner. We weren’t drinking that day so hubby opted for the non alcoholic tasting. I asked for a glass of non alcoholic just to give him company, unfortunately, they came with a 2 oz pour. When we asked why it’s a 2 oz pour they said, they only pour 2 oz. We were quite taken back by this. When we asked another server about it, he went back and made it a proper 4oz glass. But the unfortunate thing is, they charged 30$ for non alcoholic wine. Which is nothing but crazy! Even 15$ for a non alcoholic 2oz pour is outrageous. The food was good, but this really has taken back our experience.”
“For a nearly $1,000 meal, this was the most disappointing Michelin-starred dining experience we’ve had. We visited to celebrate my parents’ 25th anniversary and selected the La Herencia menu, the restaurant’s most expensive tasting menu. Despite calling ahead to let the restaurant know about the anniversary, we still waited roughly 30 minutes for our reserved table (even after already arriving 10 minutes late). Also concerning, we observed roaches near our table during service. Though they did take care of it, still worth noting. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for it. One course was so salty it was nearly inedible. The asparagus dish’s sauce felt completely disconnected from the plate. The tamale course was extremely dry, and the flavors did not work together. Even the welcome beverage served at the end of the little bites course was unpleasant enough that multiple people at our table could not finish it. Several courses were left unfinished, not because we were full, but because we simply did not enjoy them. The bread course and onion tart were the highlights of the meal and the presentation and explanations were clear and interesting. The staff were generally pleasant, though the service experience overall was impacted by the lengthy wait despite having a reservation. For a restaurant at this price point, and after choosing the restaurant’s most premium tasting menu, the positives were not enough to overcome the numerous issues we experienced. Having now dined at every Michelin-starred restaurant in DC, this was our least favorite by a significant margin and the only one that left us questioning whether the experience matched Michelin-star expectations. Highly recommend Albi or Rania for a similar priced much better experience.”
