Silver Dove Afternoon Tea

“Our group of 12 visited Silver Dove and had a wonderful experience. Booking for our larger group was extremely easy via OpenTable. Because our group was on the larger size, without prompting, they reached out and offered us an additional 30 minutes on top of their 90 minute seating time - this may also have been because we were there on a Thursday afternoon which I gather is a slower day for them. Service was impeccable, everyone was friendly and helpful and they were very organized and efficient, bringing out all of our food for each part of the service at the same time. The space was bright, comfortable, and clean. If you are coming from out of town (we were not) Silver Dove is conveniently located downtown, near plenty of Boston history and tourist attractions. It is directly across from the Saloniki, but hard to easily spot - look at the windows for their logo! Everyone enjoyed their tea selections - hot and iced - and the food was delicious. Several people in our group are gluten free and it was so nice not to have to worry about cross-contamination - if you didn't know you wouldn't be able to tell everything was gluten free. They also easily accommodate other dietary restrictions - I had the vegetarian swap outs (chickpeas instead of chicken and crispy onions instead of bacon). I personally was blown away by the taste and texture of everything and will absolutely be bringing my friends and family for afternoon tea! Thank you Silver Dove for a wonderful experience - we hope to come again!”

“Came here with some gal pals and it was a lovely experience! You get to select a tea and a set of light snacks and pastries. We all got the Silver Dove experience and it filled us up. Great service too! The ambience is very elegant and there's ample amounts of space. The decor is nice and we really enjoyed the tea and the smattering of small bites throughout the day. Would recommend!”

“I had a lovely experience at Silver Dove! I really appreciated that they include gratuity in the price, so you know exactly what you'll be paying. And given what I've paid for afternoon tea at other places, I thought this was quite a good deal at $56 before tax! It's also great that they build in accomodations for dietary restrictions, with dairy free and vegan menus on top of their gluten free base. My friend was both gluten and dairy free, so this was really ideal for her! They were also able to accommodate an egg allergy with some vegan substitutions. My husband and I decided to try both the dairy free menu and the regular menu -- for the regular, we got the falcon set which came with an extra savory item (smoked salmon canape) and a cocktail or mocktail. The tea and drink selection was great! I appreciated that there were some iced tea options, which I haven't seen before. The scones were really excellent, as were the dairy free butter (so rich and tasty!) and the clotted cream. My friend said she would come back just for the scones. I definitely couldn't tell that any of these items were gluten free -- they do an amazing job! I liked that the savory items were open faced, so we didn't fill up on bread and instead got to enjoy the fresh ingredients. Nothing too fancy here, but the flavors were good. We really liked the snap pea canape and I liked the onion jam on the dairy free radish sandwich. The vegan shiitake mushroom canape was also quite nice and had a kick of sourness. My favorite dessert was the dairy free passionfruit meringue -- that was the menu item that convinced me that we had to try the dairy free menu. Perfectly crispy and chewy meringue with a wonderful passionfruit filling. The chocolate items were also very tasty. The only miss here was the vegan Madeleine -- it was very dry and tough. Overall it was a very filling meal -- I'm glad we ended up going for dinner! I think this is a great option for afternoon tea. Some of the items might not be as fancy as the BPL afternoon tea, but I think they are smart about prioritizing flavors and substance over using super fancy ingredients and jacking up the price. I'll be thinking about the passionfruit meringue for a while...”

“Silver Dove’s take on afternoon tea feels more modern fusion than classic Ritz ~and honestly, that’s what makes it cute. The cocktails were genuinely strong (rare for tea service 😅) the sandwiches had creative twists that kept things interesting without trying too hard. If you’re a traditional afternoon tea purist expecting white-glove formality, this is not your lane ~but if you want a relaxed, stylish experience with good drinks, thoughtful bites, and really warm service, it’s absolutely worth going. The staff made the whole afternoon feel easy and welcoming.”

“I had great expectations for this place be to love tea houses but it was a bit disappointing. The finger sandwiches are really very small pieces of bread, not the much larger English tea sandwiches I am used to. The scone was minuscule. The pastries and root cream were very good though, as well as the tea ( I got their Fall blend, tastes like apple cider). The staff is very nice and attentive. But the price is too high for such a small array of food .”
