If life is a fleeting journey, the sojourns are where memories are made. Sojourner is the center of life in the Inn, where all are welcome to gather by the fire and partake. All-day and in-room dining emanate from the kitchen at Sojourner, where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in the heart of the Inn at Southall. From handcrafted smoothies and house-smoked and cured meats at breakfast to shareable lunch and dinner dishes that highlight the season’s freshest ingredients, Sojourner is elegant but casual. Butcher to beekeeper, barista to sommelier, hen house to patisserie, delicacies preserved and foraged… this is Southall
“We had dinner at Sojourner for a work event and were very impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. The overall presentation was excellent, from the cleanliness of the dining room to the food itself. To start, I ordered a whiskey sour which turned out to be one of the better ones I've had. We ordered the bread and butter, trout dip and red pea dip as appetizers and I loved them all. For the main entree, I ordered the steak frites which was very tender, cooked to the temperature I ordered, and was a lot of food! I will come back to order this again. Someone else in my party ordered the salad with chicken which also turned out to be a large plate as well. My only recommendation would be to update the desserts on the menu. There were only two of them and we ordered a tart with peanuts and caramel, but it was pretty bland and the peanuts overpowered the dessert itself. I would like to see something more chocolate-based on the menu next time. We walked around outside after dinner and the grounds are very peaceful with a great atmosphere. I loved this meal and am already planning my next meal here.”
“Everything was great! Love that they carry Honig wine. Burger and smoked trout dip were fantastic. Service was excellent. They have a very impressive whiskey and spirits selection. Definitely recommend. You have to make sure to book in advance. We thought the dress code was smart casual but there were a lot of people there in robes from the spa FYI.”
“We loved our breakfast! I’m not sure why the reviews are harsh here- the restaurant is 5 stars level food and the prices are honestly reasonable and typical compared to many other brunch locations we have been to. Just a heads up to make a reservation in advance and tip will be included in your bill. We stopped by here for breakfast and all of the food was absolutely delicious, including the brisket hash, biscuits, gravy, and my pumpkin spice latte. It’s a beautiful space and was very enjoyable with attentive staff.”
“We celebrated our 7th anniversary with dinner at Southall Farms, and it was unforgettable. We decided to splurge on their house dry-aged steak at $8 per ounce, and since the smallest one was 28 ounces it officially makes the most expensive steak we’ve ever ordered—and absolutely worth it. Perfectly cooked, rich, and full of flavor. Mathew says don't miss getting the Parker House rolls! The dining room is stunning, with high ceilings and warm design. The view through the floor-to-ceiling windows made me want to come back each season for the view. We weren’t hotel or spa guests this time, and dinner alone made us want to come back for the full Southall Inn experience. Highly recommended for a special occasion. (especially if someone else is treating). Thanks for a terrific meal.”
“My dining experience at Sojourner at the Southall Farm & Inn was nothing short of exceptional. Situated on 325 acres of working farmland in Franklin, this restaurant delivers on its promise of farm-to-table dining in the most authentic way possible. The meal began with their outstanding housemade sourdough bread served warm from the oven, accompanied by cultured butter topped with flaky sea salt – a simple yet perfect start that showcased their attention to detail. The carrot hummus with crudité was remarkably fresh, highlighting the quality of their farm-grown vegetables. The star of the evening was the Bear Creek Farm Pork Coppa Steak, served with buttermilk butter beans and spinach. The pork, slow-cooked sous vide for 24 hours before being crisped to perfection, was absolutely sublime. The technique and execution were flawless, resulting in one of the most memorable dishes I've had in recent memory. The beverage program deserves special mention. I tried the Heartbeet cocktail (mezcal, farm beets, cynar, lime, egg white, and rosemary), which was beautifully balanced and showcased their commitment to incorporating farm-fresh ingredients even in their cocktails. What sets Sojourner apart is not just the quality of the food, but how every element of the meal feels thoughtfully connected to the land it came from. The restaurant's location amid their working farm isn't just for show – you can taste the freshness and care in every bite. Service was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. The ambiance perfectly balances refinement with rural charm. While this is a special occasion price point, the value matches the experience. Already looking forward to trying their sister restaurant, January, in the future. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience that honors both culinary craft and agricultural heritage.”
