“Had a fantastic time at Stage House Tavern! Definitely a family establishment. Huge shoutout to Katie—she is an excellent bartender with a great personality and makes delicious drinks. She was so easy to speak with and really made the experience welcoming. Also, a big thank you to the manager, Alexis, for running such a well-organized and friendly spot. The management and staff here truly care about their guests. Highly recommend!”
“We were at Stage House for a late lunch, we had a group of 30+ and they were able to accommodate us upstairs. Aesthetically, it’s very pleasing inside and outside and definitely feels like a historic place. Before our group dinner we hung out at the bar, there was a lot of seating there and they have a great variety of craft beers and seasonal cocktails. I’d be curious to try the food on the regular menu, overall I’d recommend Stage House for a classy meal, great service, and older aesthetic.”
“Like most historic buildings converted to restaurants the atmosphere isn't the best. It's old. Attending a repast isn't the best time to evaluate service and food. The staff were very nice and did their best to accommodate approximately 50 at once. The food was presented cleanly and was edible. The new outside bar and seating looked really nice.”
“The place is huge with plenty of seating, and the place was pretty much packed when we visited, and most of them seemed to be regulars. I really wanted to like this place but it was just average for me. Drinks were pretty good but the food was just okay. Staff were friendly and the service pretty quick, considering how packed they were. Ambience is more of a family restaurant vibe. Overall, there isn't wrong with the place, but just didn't work for me. There was one issue we had was when paying our check though. Since it was near Closing Time, the person who was waiting on switched, which was fine. Our total was barely $40 (Drinks & App) and we gave a $100 bill, and the Server asked if we wanted the change back. Seriously? You expect us to leave $60 Tip on a $40 check? She was genuinely surprised when we told "Yes" 🙄 We did tip 20%”
“I wanted to share some feedback regarding a recent visit my husband and I made to the Stage House in Scotch Plains. This evening June 8, 2026 at 8:20 pm we stopped in for a late dinner and to watch part of the Knicks game, but unfortunately the service we received at the bar did not reflect the level of hospitality we have come to expect. When we arrived, the bartender, Sam, asked what we were drinking but did not offer menus until I requested them. After some time passed, another bartender checked in to see if we had been helped. Once we received our food and drinks, the service seemed to stop entirely. No one followed up to ask if we needed anything else. We have visited your establishment many times and truly enjoy supporting your business, which is why this experience stood out to us. We do not expect compensation; our intention is simply to share how important consistent, attentive customer service is to us as returning guests. Customer service plays a major role in how welcomed and valued patrons feel, and it directly influences whether guests choose to return. Before leaving, we spoke with the manager on duty and expressed these concerns. While he listened, the interaction also felt somewhat dismissive, and we left unsure whether the seriousness of the issue was fully understood. We hope he recognizes the value of strong customer service and how essential it is to maintaining good customer service. It’s moments like these that make you not want to return.”
