Since opening our first sushi restaurant in 2000, tucked away in a quiet residential area of Setagaya, people from around the world have made the journey to experience the sushi crafted by the legendary Sushi Master Mitsuhiro Araki. Undoubtedly one of the most influential individuals who has moulded and inspired the current generation of aspiring counter-style omakase sushi chefs. The majority of Master Araki's apprentices have gone on to achieve great success after undergoing his tutelage, and now The Araki in London has been left to protégé Marty Lau alongside Manae Araki, credited for Master Araki originally leaving Japan to open The Araki London to be closer to his daughter, to carve out a new legacy. Having trained under Master Araki for over 9 years in London, Hong Kong, and the newly opened Akasaka branch in Tokyo, the young master Marty has come into his own, working with the best ingredients available locally and around the world. Experience the true gesture of "omotenashi" hospitality and service from the heart of the host. Our experience aims to evoke a plethora of emotions, warmth, and nostalgia as we take you on a true journey of world-class sushi with nothing "lost in translation."
“Incredible, incredible experience. The food was to die for, the chef was so friendly, and the portions were just right to make you feel ready for a nap by the end. Also just a beautiful space, lovely music, smells incredible, etc. 10/10 meal - would recommend to any and everybody.”
“Excellent experience - the attention to detail and care the chefs put into every bite is exceptional. Everything from the intimate atmosphere, to the high quality ingredients and charismatic and attentive chefs made this one of the best meals I've ever had. Would highly recommend!”
“It is indeed undisputable, tonight is not just dining, it is simply an unforgettable experience. Every sushi served for the night brings you surprises and a discovery of a well blended mix of taste and texture. And as the chef shared, the finishing will always be completed with the original taste of the main ingredient. Simply awesome and a must for a return!”
“My fiancé made the booking to surprise me on my Birthday and I love every bit of it, the food, the experience, the service and the atmosphere. The fish were really fresh and each dish was creative and full of favours. However I did leave the place feeling slightly unsatisfied and hungry and for the price point I think I should be at least fuller. The number of nigiris were decent but each sushi were on the smaller side. However it was still an amazing experience, although I don’t think I would go back but would still recommend people if their had extra special occasion or extra dollar to splash out.”
“The food is delicious, and served exquisitely, but we struggle to describe the experience without being blinded by the price of the meal and the feeling of being milked for more money. There were 6 of us, and the restaurant ushered us out within 2 hours due to another booking after us. The waiters assured us that we had finished our wine and sake, but refused to show us the empty bottles. I would like to recommend the restaurant to others, but we paid £500 a head for 6 people for the menu and for the cheapest bottle of wine and sake per head. Including service. I am very disappointed to be negative, but we have left with the over-arching feeling that we have been ripped off at sheer cost of the bill. We feel a fair price would be ~£150-£200/head based on the true value of the wine/sake.”
