How to Find Us: Highway 1 is fully open, and Treebones is accessible from both the north and south. We are located on the southern end of Big Sur, approximately 1 hour north of Cambria, 1 hour south of Pfeiffer State Park, and 2 hours south of Carmel. Directions: Treebones is located on the southern end of Big Sur roughly 2 hours south of Carmel, 1 hour south of Pfeiffer State Park area, and an hour north of Cambria. Please save adequate driving time to make your reservation on time, and about 10 minutes to park and get checked in. We recommend checking our website or contacting us directly for the most up-to-date road conditions prior to your visit. Cancellation Policy: Due to the unique staffing and supply challenges of our remote location, we kindly request that any reservation cancellations be made at least 72 hours in advance. Please plan to arrive promptly for your reservation. Due to the intimate nature of our dining experiences, we may be unable to accommodate guests arriving more than 15 minutes after their reservation time. For Off-Site Guests: Off-site guests are welcome to dine with us by reservation. Upon arrival, please park in the lower parking lot and follow the posted signs to The Lodge. Check in with the Front Desk Host before proceeding to your dining venue. The Wild Coast Sushi Bar is located behind The Lodge. For the privacy of our resort guests, access to the grounds is reserved for registered overnight guests. However, off-site diners are welcome to browse the gift shop or enjoy a drink at The Lodge bar, pending availability. Each dish showcases seasonal ingredients, many harvested directly from our on-site organic garden. Guests enjoy a warm and romantic dining atmosphere with sweeping ocean views, a wood-burning fireplace on cooler evenings, and, weather permitting, outdoor seating overlooking the Pacific Ocean, perfect for sunset dining, whale watching, and a glass of wine. Whenever possible, our menus feature locally sourced ingredients from trusted regional farms, ranches, and fisheries. *We strive to accommodate a variety of dietary needs whenever possible. Please note that our kitchen is not an allergen-free environment, and cross-contact with ingredients such as nuts, gluten, dairy, shellfish, and seafood may occur. Sushi Bar Hours: Wild Coast Sushi | Two Seatings 5:00pm & 7:00pm | Reservations Required (Closed Sundays & Mondays) Wild Coast Sushi Bar – Omakase Dinner Experience A highlight of many guest’s Treebones stay, The Wild Coast Sushi Bar is an Omakase experience like no other. Delight in an elaborate eighteen course tasting menu artfully crafted and served by Chef Yancy Knapp, which incorporates the highest quality seafood and locally harvested herbs and seasonings, many of which from Treebones’ own organic garden. Dining takes place in an intimate and thoughtfully designed indoor/outdoor space which accommodates 8 guests per seating. *Please note that this experience is centered around raw seafood. We are unable to offer cooked substitutions, vegetarian menus, or vegan options. The entire omakase experience is gluten-free. Availability is limited and often books well in advance. We highly recommend securing your reservation early. Wild Coast Sushi Bento Box – To-Go Lunch A thoughtfully prepared takeaway lunch featuring a curated selection of sushi and seasonal elements. A great option for guests to enjoy sushi who can't get into omakase when it’s sold out, including off-site visitors. Pickup: 1:30 PM daily (closed Sundays and Mondays) Orders must be placed by 9:00 PM the evening before through Tock or at the Front Desk. The Bento Box is an excellent option for guests who are unable to secure an omakase reservation and is also available to off-site visitors.
“I loved my stay at Treebones! It is the perfect place to escape to and immerse in nature. My yurt was so cozy and comfortable and I really enjoyed the food, wine, and of course the view at the restaurant. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. It’s well worth the trip to Big Sur and I had lots of adventures with plenty of nearby hiking, parks, forests, and beaches, not to mention other locations like wineries and beach towns a bit further south. It was my first time glamping and I already can’t wait to go back and stay in a yurt again!”
“Absolutely amazing. If you can, get the sushi dinner. It’s a truly special experience. I felt more relaxed there than I have in a long time. I even napped in the yurt w a light rain falling. Amazing.”
“I can go on forever. To start, our first call was to confirm our stay and give us a “run down” of what to expect right after we booked our visit. I was given the tip to book the omakase experience early (glad I did). There were also subsequent email interactions that felt concierge. We booked approximately 1.5 months in advance (booked in January for an end of February stay). On the day of our arrival, Danielle called to confirm what time we were arriving. She was so kind and helpful at check in (9pm) and helped us plan a glorious itinerary for the next day. The staff in general were so helpful: Savannah and her sister (sorry I can’t remember her name!) you were all so wonderful. The omakase is wonderful both for the food and ambiance. I also really like the lodge where you can hang out and play games by the fire. Breakfast is limited but good. The gift shop is weirdly amazing, and I spent so much money there, which is so unlike me. The room is absolutely comfortable enough and at least having a sink, even if there’s no toilet, makes a big difference. I knew what I was getting myself into, but I’m a high maintenance gal and nevertheless pleasantly surprised. They keep the bathrooms very clean. The whole ambiance is not done justice in the photos. The only negative is the humming of the (generator?) that can be pretty pervasive, it’s not a “full silence” retreat. Can’t wait to come here again.”
“I came here for a trip with my siblings and we all can’t wait to come back. This place really feels like paradise on earth. Especially with how high up in the clouds you are. The yurts are comfortable, clean, and warm. The entire staff was incredibly kind and responsive. All the facilities were clean, daily breakfast was delicious, and so were the lunches. Highly recommend eating on site because the chef was amazing. Also, yoga each morning was lovely. The teacher was really patient and educational.”
“the food was a let down ... some thoughts on the dinner was mixed — the wagyu steak dinner was chewy and we ended up leaving it; potato scoop (super small) was bland; the mushroom was rubbery like cutting rubber the next night we had the pizza which we figured would be hard to mess up, it was good but not worth $95 each (that included salad and appetirzed but still) dinner — oysters were outstanding but dinner salads lacked punch cabbage salad was burned black and salsa needed more heat and depth the lunch was much better— cod fish sandwich was very good however, the mushroom burger was fried little mushrooms which my wife threw out (I gave her half my cod sandwich) breakfast was the same the 3 mornings we were there and kind of monotonous after day 1 (frittata and pork sausage) ... scrambled eggs and bacon would have been an easy swap for day 2 or day 3 ... but nope, frittata and pork sausage all 3 mornings we were there (frittata was not easy to get fork through, maybe frozen?) overall the food was the let down and expensive (dinner was $95 person) ... but you're kind of stuck eating here since it's remote ... the location itself was relaxing ... and there are tons of flies here, everywhere ... we had 4 or 5 in our accommodation and several in the restaurant ... they tell you when you get here about the flies with a little placard in your room or site...”
