Yoshi's has served Japan's best traditional dishes to Bay Area patrons since 1972. The menu highlights artfully arranged sushi, fresh grilled seafood, classic Japanese dishes, and vegetarian fare. Patrons can kick off their shoes in the traditional Japanese tatami seating or dine at tables. Expert sushi chefs create sushi and sashimi to order either in the restaurant or in the jazz house. Start the evening in the cocktail lounge before dinner or have a nightcap after taking in a show in the jazz house.
“Japanese with Jazz! Thanks to our friends who introduced Yoshi's to us. The meal and the concert following made for a truly memorable experience. We drove from San Jose to Oakland for it - totally worth the effort! The package deal includes parking within the structure - unheard of! They validate - so remember to pass by the electronic validation machine on your way out. Warm sake, sushi, and Jazz - life should be so good!”
“Fantastic place! We have beard great things about Yoshi's prior to visiting. One of our favorite jazz singers had a show there, so we went. We started the evening with some delicious and fresh sushi. The lychee drink was great! The atmosphere was lively and bright. The desert we ordered was delicious. Great food, great music, great vibes. Visiting again soon!”
“This is easily my favorite music venue in the Bay without a doubt. My wife and I used to live in Oakland and could walk here. And we would go once a month at least. First of all, the food is phenomenal. Most live music venues are not known for their food. But the sushi, ambiance and service from this restaurant are top notch. If you make a reservation for food before the concert, you often get priority seating too. The music venue is in a separate room inside the restaurant. Once you enter the music venue, it is small and close knit. There are no bad seats in the house. Bartenders will serve you drinks and food during concerts as well so you never have to leave your seat. I was shocked at the list of artists that come into this place. Artists that can probably fill up stadiums and arenas perform here. Depending on the artists, it can turn into a party. I’ve seen the audience get up and dance in their seats on plenty of occasions. And the ticket prices are decent. This place is a must try! It’s easily what we miss the most from Oakland.”
“Yoshi's is a standout when it comes to authentic Japanese cuisine. From the moment you enter, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The decor is sleek yet cozy, offering the perfect environment for both casual meals and special celebrations. The menu at Yoshi’s is packed with options, but the sushi is what truly shines. The fish is always incredibly fresh, and each piece is prepared with attention to detail. Whether you're enjoying a classic California roll or a more adventurous specialty roll, you can taste the quality in every bite. For sashimi lovers, the selection is extensive and always perfectly sliced. Aside from sushi, Yoshi's also offers a variety of other Japanese dishes, like ramen and teriyaki, that are equally impressive. The service is top-notch—attentive but never overbearing, and the staff is knowledgeable about the menu, always ready to offer recommendations. If you're a fan of Japanese food, Yoshi's should definitely be on your radar. The combination of amazing food, great atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a must-visit spot. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or new to Japanese cuisine, you’ll leave Yoshi’s feeling satisfied and eager to return!”
“Food was very mid. I got recommendation from a friend saying the place has good atmosphere and food. The atmosphere part was true, but not the food part: if you like “white people sushi”, then this place is for you. But if you know what authentic Japanese sushi culture looks like, pls don’t come. They don’t even know how to make proper nigiri and maki(sushi roll). The roll came in looking like it was rolled over by a car. I watched the sushi chef making them and they don’t seem like they know their job well. Please train them properly.”
