Coa De Jima is a Mexican restaurant in the Downtown neighborhood of Boise.
“Food was very good. Kyle was our waiter and he did a fine job. It has a spectacular decor. It was pretty busy on a Friday night so food trickled out a bit slow, but was good. Mocajete sea food was the hit. Drinks were good as well. Bathrooms are a bit hidden behind a clever picture of a lady in red. All in all we had a great birthday party for my wife with kids in tow.”
“From the moment we arrived, our evening at Coa de Jima was defined by top-tier hospitality and a vibrant, professional atmosphere. We were greeted by Olivia, whose warm and constant smile set a wonderful tone for the night. Our primary server, Daniel, was truly outstanding—attentive, frequently checking in to ensure we were well-cared for, and radiating a positive energy that elevated the entire experience. We also appreciated the friendly service from Nolan, who made us feel right at home. Artful Cocktails We began our journey with the cocktail program, which is as creative as it is delicious! Winnie the Pooh: This drink was a standout. Featuring Código "Coa Edition" Blanco, Génépy, and chamomile, it was beautifully presented with a honey stick. The wildflower honey added a perfect touch of sweetness. Peach Basil Smash: A refreshing blend of Old Forester Bourbon, elderflower, and ginger beer. We absolutely loved this choice—it was balanced, bright, and incredibly easy to enjoy. Smokey The Pear: While technically well-crafted with Mezcal and a dramatic smoke bubble, the heavy smoky profile was a bit intense for our personal palates, though it certainly made for a great presentation. Culinary Highlights The food was nothing short of spectacular, starting with the Duck Carnitas Quesadilla. The duck confit was tender and rich, perfectly complemented by their signature cheese blend and a flavorful pasilla sauce. We finished every single bite! For the main course, we shared La Tablita (For Two), an impressive spread that featured: Maine Lobster Tail & Grilled Prawns: The lobster was incredible, especially when paired with the amazing butter sauce. 8oz Coulotte & Grilled Chicken: The steak was cooked exactly to our specifications, and the chicken remained remarkably juicy and flavorful. The Sides: Everything from the creamy black beans and ancho rice to the "melt in your mouth" tortillas and fresh guacamole came together wonderfully. Coa de Jima successfully pairs an upscale, moody aesthetic with deeply authentic Latin flavors. Between the stellar service from Daniel and the team and the high-quality ingredients, it was a memorable night out. We cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone seeking a premier dining experience in downtown Boise.”
“Seafood entrees and appetizers on point. Matt and Corbin served us, and they were super personable, checked on us, and took great care of us. Food was amazing and drinks were top notch. Definitely coming back soon. We had the octopus, tuna and lobster enchiladas and everything was amazing! Thank you Coa De Jima!”
“Our first time to Coa de Jima & I'm hoping not our last! We had some birthday travel plans change & decided to try a new spot to celebrate in town. The atmosphere is cool, good music, beautiful & thoughtful decor. It's dark (what you would expect), but it all makes sense when you see some of the flaming plates arrive around you. Our server Anna was fantastic, the whole staff was. We started with calamari & a couple drinks (I highly recommend the Winnie de Pooh). The calamari was unlike any I've had before (the size of mozzarella sticks) & the sauces, they need to bottle those. My boyfriend had the Milanesa & loved it, I had the Carne Asada & the flavors were all so good. Usually the beans are just a side/filler, but their black beans are SO GOOD. The only off thing was how things were served - AWESOME presentation, just a little awkward to eat. But that could just be me. 😊 We were asked when we walked in if we were celebrating anything special & they brought us ice cream with a sparkler in it, to top off his birthday night. It was a fun night out from start to finish, and made us feel like we got to go on a little vacation anyway. Thank you!!!”
“We went there for the 1st time today for brunch/lunch and had reservations. Were able to get seated a little earlier with no problems. The staff was very nice and attentive until close to us being done due to they being busy. The menu is extensive and looked amazing. Prices are higher than we're used to in Boise, but we don't live there so may be rhe trend now. I got the shrimp, crab, avocado omelet which was good and full of crab, priced at $32. My mom got the shrimp fajitas and she said they were flavorful, but the sauce was a little greasy and they left the tails on, making it very hard for my older mom to eat them with all the sauce and not get messy. She took it to go instead of eating the shrimp there. It took awhile to get to go boxes and our checks, but they had 2 large parties come in around that time. Overall pretty good food, pretty good service, expensive prices, neat atmosphere but loud, and hard to get out the door with people standing in the bar area. Update!!! The management got ahold of me and thanked me for the tails on the shrimp comment and will be fixing that moving forward!!! Thank you Coa de Jima for listening ♥️”
