“Super cool place, great beer, amazing food! My boyfriend actually liked my vegan black bean burger on a gluten free bun more than his grass fed burger and was shocked! They were both great, though! The apps were also fabulous Our server was sweet and all staff was kind to us. Clean bathrooms and clean place overall. We will absolutely be back.”
“Nestled just off the main drag in mystic, engine room far and away the best offering in the area. Mystic being one of the few worthwhile attractions in the greater connecticut coastline this far east of new haven, Mystic unfortunately plays host to one too many over-priced and underdelivering dining options. Engine room is the diamond in the rough. With a youthful yet classic nautical atmosphere and a nod or two to the regions naval history, the rustic wood top bar counter and leather booths ease you into a comfortable and intoxicating atmosphere. You're seated with a pencil and postcard announcing a build-your-own-bloody-mary. In addition to the competend cocktail bar, you have a selection of local ales on tap. The brunch menu dazzled with its daily hash offering and stunning american comfort fare with a twist or two to boot. Perfect for a sunday pick-me-up or a first, second, and third date. Engine room is the only mystic meal that keeps me coming back.”
“The food here is out of this world. My fiance ordered the fish and chips, it was so tender it basically melted in your mouth 🤤, and the portion size was amazing. The hangover burger was ordered medium rare, and oh boy was it just perfectly cooked, and stacked to perfection. The seasonings in general used here for the food are insanely good, I could NOT get enough. I'm coming back soon to try more (that chipotle chicken sandwich is calling my name!)”
“My partner and I ordered takeout from Engine Room during our trip to Mystic and really enjoyed the meal overall. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, maple sriracha wings, bacon mac and cheese, and hush puppies. The pulled pork sandwich was tender and moist, though I think it could’ve benefited from a bit more sauce. The maple sriracha wings were excellent — crispy, flavorful, and had a balanced spice level that was definitely noticeable without being overwhelming. The chicken came right off the bone with each bite. The fries were plentiful and well seasoned, and the bacon mac and cheese was one of my favorite parts of the meal. I especially liked the orecchiette pasta shape, which held the sauce really well. The hush puppies were also a great addition to round everything out. Would definitely come back and try more of the menu next time we’re in Mystic.”
“This restaurant is very accessible if you’re in the downtown area. We had reservation that involved kids but they put us at a high top which means they didn’t train the hostess to understand kids can sit at high tops. When we brought that up she rolled her eyes. Our waitress was very bad. Instead of walking around the table to get orders she shouted across. When we asked for various items she was forgetful. Not sure how she has a job, if I owned this place I’d get rid of her. At no time did she ask any of the six adults if we wanted a second alcoholic drink which is where most restaurant profits come from. The drink was honestly one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The food was average and the menu felt limited. I prob won’t be back due to more negatives then positive with all the other options in the area. Limited photos due to needing to hold the kids at the high top tables from falling.”
