Vinegar Hill House is a relaxed restaurant in an unassuming and historical part of the Brooklyn waterfront. Our intent is to use the best ingredients possible through developing relationships with like-minded produce, meat and fish producers, to compose artful and satisfying eats out of our wood-fired oven. When the weather is nice we welcome guests for brunch or dinner in our quiet garden, under a cherry tree.
“An absolute hidden gem tucked quietly away in the back of Vinegar Hill. The restaurant is dripping with passion and character, and was the perfect romantic refuge during a warm spring downpour. Simple, tried & true dishes that use quality ingredient and thoughtful preparation to transcend simplicity and ascend to comfort food nirvana.”
“I cannot say enough great things about this place after my meal today! Had an absolutely scrumptious brunch after wanting to try this place for a while. The apple sourdough pancake was HEAVENLY. I think they actually did cook it up in heaven and bring it down to Brooklyn. The small size was the perfect size for 2 to split! And the omelette?? So simple, no frills tbh but so soft and creamy and delicious I honestly have no notes. I think this has to be one of my new favorite restaurants. The staff were so friendly as well and a lovely cozy atmosphere inside. What a perfect establishment!!!! 1000000% recommend coming for brunch.”
“What an absolutely fantastic experience at Vinegar Hill House! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. A huge shout-out to the manager, Gikas, who was incredibly kind and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. We also had some amazing drinks thanks to Bartender Crosby, who is a true professional and mixes a fantastic cocktail. Now, the food—wow! We started with the Red Kuri Squash with stracciatella, hot cherry pepper, and boquerones. It was phenomenal; so creamy and flavorful, with just the right amount of kick from the pepper. It was perfectly paired with a Hungarian white wine recommended by the staff. For the main, I had the pork chop. You can tell it's thoughtfully sourced. It was cooked to absolute perfection and served with jalapeño cheddar grits that were the ultimate comfort food pairing. I highly recommend getting the Hungarian white wine pairing they suggest (I believe it's from the Valley of Beautiful Women). It complemented both dishes beautifully. This was a 10/10 meal. We will absolutely be back!”
“Phenomenal food, service, ambience, and more. The food didn’t try too hard. Seasonal ingredients with balanced flavors. Chicken liver mouse and beets were one of the best I’ve ever had. I LOVE that they didn’t hide any ingredients in drenched sauce but rather just showcased it with accompaniments. Besides the food, their wine list is actually one of the best in the region. No overpriced, overhyped names but rather unique smaller producers. Such a unique and eclectic mix of wine that again doesn’t try too hard to be complex. The server was so nice and welcomed my wife and I right away. I’m only upset this is the first time I’ve been here after living in Brooklyn for 4 years.”
“If you’re looking for classic American brunch then this place is good for you; simple menu with all the classics. Personally I was not fan of the Apple sourdough pancake but others like it — so if that’s your thing then great. My only suggestion: offer freshly squeezed orange / grapefruit juice. Service was excellent: all the staff were the kindest. Atmosphere was cosy and welcoming; we were sat in the dining room area but they have also opened the backyard seating now which is great for warmer weather. Tables are quite small and seating is pretty tight but it’s okay I guess.”
