Serving in Belltown for a quarter of a century Shiro's Sushi is the first Edomae Sushi restaurant in Seattle. Our masterful chefs at Shiro’s Sushi focus on local, seasonally available seafood and produce. From the vantage point of our clean, seafood-rich waters, Shiro’s Sushi chefs look first to what is available in Washington and Oregon: salmon, geoduck, squid, oysters, clams, smelt and Pacific albacore tuna; regionally, such as king crab from Alaska and wild prawns from Canada, followed by acquiring fresh fish from global waters.
“been meaning to try this place for over a year and was never able to make it work. finally was able to secure a reservation during seattle restaurant week! it’s not a big establishment, but it’s very cozy inside; lightly decorated with japanese knick-knacks and trinkets by the entrance, especially. the chefs even greet you as you walk in, since you walk right into the sushi bar. that’s just the beginning of the wonderful service, too. our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. she told us the specific order to eat each piece in (it differs depending on which hand is your dominant one — ironically enough, i was the only right-handed person at my table), whether or not it needed soy sauce, what sauces/glazes/garnishes were on each piece, and where every fish was from. it was incredible. at $65 per person, each of us 19 thoughtfully chosen and beautifully crafted pieces of nigiri over five courses. i can say with confidence that this is some of the best sushi i’ve ever had. i’ll be back.”
“Lovely omakase dinner at Shiro’s 🩷 15 pieces of Nigiri: Most of the nigiri was torched & seasoned with various flavourings, but the taste of the fish still stood out. My favourite had to be the Chutoro and Sardine - i’ve never had Sardine that rich and creamy. Kaiseki dishes: Super tasty and subtly flavoured. A really nice break from the sushi pieces. Dessert: Dessert isn’t included in the meal but we decided to order a parfait and opted for the kinako flavour. I wasn’t expecting much but was surprised because it was really really tasty. Cream + sponge cake slices + warabimochi + a scoop of vanilla ice cream and berries on top. Perfect end to the meal so be sure to order!! Service: Had to be the best part of the whole experience. Chef Taro & Chef Kurisu took great care of us. Every dish and fish was explained in great detail, with info like what kind of fish, origins of it, which part of fish, etc. It made the whole meal a lot more interesting and interactive, and it felt like we were learning along the way. Thank you so much to the team for making our wonderful night! Overall a really wonderful experience, and would 10/10 recommend it to anyone visiting the city or looking to celebrate a special occasion.”
“I feel like I’ve never had sushi in my life (and I’ve had sushi countless times), before coming here. The omakase was incredible, memorable, and beyond delicious. My only regret was coming hungry as a 6’3” 240lb man. Should’ve ate a little before, because it was overall a small and drawn out meal. But the experience was incredible and well worth it. If i could hang out with these guys every day i would. They were so nice and fun! 10/10. Would recommend. I only gave atmosphere 4/5 because it would have been nice if the lighting was slightly lower and more intimate, but maybe that wouldn’t work for the chefs.”
“i dined here with a friend at the sushi bar for my birthday dinner and it was an experience i'll think about for years to come. the staff was so kind and took such good care of us. impeccable service. the food was delicious and we were just in awe at how yummy each omakase course was (i'm still thinking about the knifejaw/ishigaki dai).. i'm not based in seattle but i know now that whenever i'm in the city i need to make sure i stop at shiro's sushi. thank you so much to the shiro's sushi team and a big big thank you to yuriko and the sushi chefs especially!”
“The omakase set was very good overall. We were initially concerned that 19 pieces might be too much, but the sushi portions are on the smaller side, which made it easy to enjoy everything without feeling overly full—we even had room to share dessert. While it wasn’t the best omakase I’ve had, the quality was solid and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The main reason for the 3-star rating is the overall experience beyond the food. For a restaurant at this price point, I expect the atmosphere to match the quality of the meal. Unfortunately, the decor and ambiance felt quite basic—more like a casual lunch spot than a place for a special dining experience. Additionally, the restroom situation was disappointing. There’s no dedicated bathroom inside the restaurant—you have to leave, walk through a somewhat sketchy hallway, and use a shared restroom that didn’t feel very clean. If you’re focused purely on taste, it’s worth trying. However, for me, the overall experience didn’t justify the ~$100 per person price—it felt closer to a $60 experience in terms of both ambiance and setting.”
