AUTHENTIC INDIAN | OPEN FLAME COOKING | FIERY VINDALOO Pappe’s (pronounced pah-pay) Our menu is mostly Northern Indian in flavor with some items from the South, plus unique hand crafted cocktails, beer, and exciting non-alcoholic beverages. The restaurant is saturated with silk textiles hanging from the ceiling and hand painted murals, creating a playful yet warm space.
“We came on a Wednesday and were able to find seats at the bar. The interior is stylish, cozy and welcoming. Love all the decorations. Happy hour is excellent at Pappe. All food pictured are from the HH menu. We ordered the butter chicken special, samosa, gobi, and chicken tikka. Butter chicken comes with basmati rice, garlic naan and a drink. The flavor is top notch and such a great deal. Tandoori chicken is well seasoned and really tender. Gobi is fried and tossed in a finger licking sauce, although a bit on the salty side. The service at the bar is prompt, though not as warm as I expected. That said there’s no auto tipping added to our check as other diners mentioned. Overall a great experience and I’ll definitely be back for that butter chicken special!”
“I went to Pappe in DC for happy hour with a friend and had such a great time. I originally wanted to go because I saw they had a $24 butter chicken meal deal that comes with a glass of wine or beer, and it definitely did not disappoint from 5-7. The butter chicken was AMAZING -- super flavorful, rich, and honestly a really generous portion. It was easily enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day, which made the deal even better. During happy hour they also have $3, $8, and $10 bites, and $10 margaritas, which is such a great value. I tried one of the $3 bites and it was so flavorful and well done. Honestly sooooo good! It was the vegetable Samosa and it's soooo good! The whole experience was great and the food had so much flavor. This was my first time coming here, but it definitely won't be my last. It honestly feels like a bit of a hidden gem for happy hour in DC.”
“Great upscale Indian fusion restaurant! We went there for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The manager, Kate, greeted us with such warmth and made us feel truly welcome. Our server, Josh, was amazing—attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully plated. You can really tell that a lot of care goes into both the flavors and presentation. I also appreciate that they offer great vegan and vegetarian options, which makes it easy for everyone to enjoy the menu. There are so many reasons to love this place—the atmosphere, the service, and the incredible food. Highly recommend!”
“We recently dined at Pappe, and overall had a very enjoyable experience. While the flavors may not be strictly authentic to traditional regional Indian cuisine, the food was well-prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. The menu offers a good variety of classic Indian dishes with approachable spice levels, making it easy to find something you’ll enjoy. The curries were rich and comforting, the breads were fresh, and the portions were generous. Everything was served hot and nicely presented. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We would definitely recommend making a reservation before coming, as it can get quite busy.”
“Everything was absolutely amazing!!! My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary and it was by far the best experience we have ever had. We went for brunch last Saturday, everything from the food, to the service to the ambiance was perfect. To start, our waiter was incredibly kind and friendly. I picked a bottle of Riesling. His bottle service was absolutely perfect. I didn't have to pick up the bottle to refill our glasses even once. He gave the best recommendations for appetizers and entrees based on the wine we chose as well as what would complement the other items we had ordered. He was always right there when we needed something but never hovered. Now on to the food. It was by far the best Indian food we have ever had. And I used to be a manager at an Indian restaurant owed by a guy from Goa. Everything was so flavorful, perfectly cooked meat. We had a duck curry that was by far the best thing we have ever tried. The desserts were amazing. The chutney was absolutely perfect. The wine list was amazing, excellent choices for Indian food from a pairing standpoint. I'm a sommelier so l do feel pretty confident talking on it. Now onto the ambiance. The lighting is perfect. Each table has a small light on it, doesn't block the view of the table at all but pertectly lights it up. The color of the walls is beautiful and matches the vibe. I loved all the decorations. And I absolutely loved the layout of the bar. Overall this gets a perfect 10/10. It was also excellently priced for the amount of food and the quality. The thali is part of their brunch menu and is only $30 for a fast assortment of dishes”
