Our estate is dedicated to crafting exceptional wines through sustainable, certified organic farming and minimal intervention. Located above Peachy Canyon Road on the west side of Paso Robles, the vineyard is among the highest in the region, ranging from 1,400 to 1,900 feet in elevation. Planted in high-density, small-lot blocks, the site’s extreme slopes, limestone soils, and diverse aspects create the distinctive canvas from which our wines are shaped. Of the vineyard’s 86 planted acres, multiple clones of Grenache and Syrah make up the majority of plantings. They are complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Graciano, Petit Verdot, and Tempranillo, each contributing to the diversity and character of the estate. Winemaker Philipp Pfunder embraces the traditions of classical winemaking through a global perspective and a philosophy deeply rooted in site expression. Organic farming, gravity-flow production, native yeast fermentation, and minimal intervention guide our work in the cellar. Through this philosophy, Phil and the winemaking team craft wines that express a true sense of place and terroir, creating wines that are distinctive, unmanipulated, and reflective of the land from which they come.
“Sleek. Sophisticated. The wines and the winery. Fantastic wines, great origin story, excellent knowledgeable host. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah. Back to the wines. Smooth, complex, well rounded and polished. Delicious.”
“Some things we liked about Law Estate were the amazing views, unique architecture, and delicious wine. We especially liked the service we received from Nichole. She spent the majority of time explaining the wines and even gave us a pop-quiz. A much more personalized tasting compared to most vineyards.”
“Thank you, Renee, and the team at Law Estate Winery. As a first timer to the region, I was recommended my first stop to be @Law and while other tastings that day were quality, Law was for me and my palate. A huge thank you to Renee for accommodating my Scottish terrier, Wallace and me for our 10am tasting. I appreciated tour knowledge, our conversation and hope to get off the waitlist, which is close to home to me since I work in college counseling. If you’re looking for an educator to join your coveted wine club, Wallace and I are ready to join the family! Thank you for such a memorable day!”
“I really enjoyed Law Estate. I loved the Sagacious, First Tracks, and Soph. I was really hoping to taste the Prima and Intrepid, but those are part of the Black Label Wines and not available. First Tracks and Soph weren't on our tasting schedule, but our host, Averi (sp?), was really paying attention to how we described the kinds of wines we like, and she brought us tastings of both FT and Soph. We ended up buying a couple bottles of both! The grounds are beautiful and the outdoor tasting area is spectacular. They really go out of their way to take care of you. Also had wonderful communication with them prior to our tasting. Definitely recommend!”
“The wine here is exceptional with a side of pretentiousness. We were a party of 8 & our tastings were ready for us when we sat after our short tour of the vineyard. We had Shelly who did a nice job of educating us on the wine. However, when it came down to being a member, it sounded like you will be lucky if you can join & good luck because there's a long wait list to join. It very much came across we may not be good enough to be a member. They apparently have some very exclusive parties for members only, but we'll never know. We did buy their maximum 2 bottles of wine because they are delicious. The vineyard is lovely, but I don't think we'll be back.”
