Lawry's The Prime Rib - Beverly Hills

“Lawry's has been doing this since 1938 and there is something genuinely moving about walking into a room that hasn't tried to reinvent itself in that time and doesn't need to. The dark wood, the curved booths, the servers in vintage-style uniforms, the gleaming stainless steel carts that roll to your table carrying slow-roasted prime rib. It is theater in the best and most unfussy way possible. The spinning salad arrives first, mixed tableside in a bowl set over ice while a server adds vintage dressing in a slow, practiced pour. It's romaine, iceberg, spinach, shredded beets, croutons, and hard-boiled egg, and it's simple and completely satisfying, the kind of salad that tastes better for having been made in front of you. Then the cart appears and the carver asks you what cut and how you'd like it cooked. The Lawry's Cut is the traditional one and the most popular, a generous slice of seasoned prime rib carved to order and plated right there at the table with au jus, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and a whipped cream horseradish that's lighter and brighter than it sounds. If you want more, the Diamond Jim Brady is the thick bone-in version and it is a serious piece of beef. The creamed corn and creamed spinach are add-on sides worth ordering, both done with enough care that they don't feel like afterthoughts. Don't skip the Yorkshire pudding. It arrives puffed and golden and is the kind of bread component that makes you wonder why more places don't serve it. Everything here is included with your cut: the spinning salad, the potatoes, the pudding, the horseradish. That all-in approach makes the pricing feel more reasonable than it looks on paper and it makes the whole dinner feel cohesive rather than à la carte.”

“Great service! Valet parking only. The salad dressing is too sour and intense. The creamed corn was firm and delicious. The branzino was very bare with no special sauce and no crispy skin. The prime rib was fantastic and worth the hype. The portions are huge, and the price is reasonable for comparable restaurants. They gave a dessert for my birthday! Highly recommend!”

“First and foremost, I have to tip my hats off to the chef because the food was amazing. I love how the cook. None other than a Mexican cooking but English style went out of his way to prep everything. The cook who I forgot his name right now but I will come back and state his name came out to greet us because of my brother who he knew. Sent out a few appetizers which was very delicious. But the salad 🥗 was on point in which I immediately started to take down lol. The meal was amazingly tender and juicy I would have to say I give the chef a 10 out of 10 for sure, My whole family was satisfied at the meals. We will definitely come back for sure here at Beverly hills We drove from Orange County SoCal”

“Very grand atmosphere! Elegant setting for upscale dining experience. We normally don't go that far to the West side since we live in East side of San Gabriel valley. But it's our first brunch for 2026, so we decided to make it special. And indeed it was all worth the drive. We ordered the prime rib hash and the prime rib sandwich. We also have the shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque. And of course the famous spinning bowl salad. Exquisite and tasty from the bread to the meals. My wife loves everything about the meal! Service was attentive and friendly. Tables are constantly being cleaned, emptied plates are immediately removed to keep your table nice and inviting. We also were treated to some live music and the singing was very good. Parking is valet only and I think the charges were like $12. It is a place to take your friends to show off what LA's got to offer.”

“Food was top notch but I expected more from the service and atmosphere for a $200pp dinner. We went on a Sunday night and the dining room was almost entirely empty, yet they still sat us directly next to another full table with a large group, and the tables were so close we couldn’t get into one of the chairs without fully hitting the other guests. Our server was nice but generally seemed to not want to be there. Her answers to questions were short - when we asked about the prime rib cuts she just listed the ounces for each like “8oz, 10oz, 12oz” etc, not explaining that the English cut is sliced and which came with bones. Midway through the salad service she just left then came back a few minutes later explaining she forgot the dressing. When the food came it was all delicious, no complaints there. The onion dip appetizer was incredible and the Prime Rib was perfect. I used the restroom once and was shocked that it was dirty and run down. Toilet paper all over the floor and dirty wall dividers between the toilets. It also smelled as bad as a music festival port-a-potty; you’d think they’d have air fresheners but it didn’t seem like they did. Overall this is not the experience we were hoping for and we won’t be recommending it or returning.”
