Frank’s Outback has 45 seats inside the building and interestingly, the patrons get to walk through the open kitchen to enter the dining room. Once inside, you sense a warm welcoming atmosphere. The walls are painted in a cool blue with original artwork on the walls. White tablecloths, candle light, hand polished silverware and glassware grace the tables. There are also 100 seats outside, set in a garden setting under a canopy of trees. The outdoor seats are covered and not affected by weather. In the Fall and Winter guests are warmed by infrared heaters and the large outdoor fireplace.
“On Tuesday June 30th, my family and I celebrated my daughter’s 8th birthday at Franks Outback. We took a vacation to Pawleys Island and our Airbnb host Holly highly recommended Franks, so I booked a reservation immediately. If I could leave 100 stars I would. The atmosphere and staff were so welcoming, kind, patient, and went over and beyond to make sure our dining experience was superb. Our server Frank was kind, knowledgeable, efficient, explained the different dishes with care, and made my daughter’s birthday dinner into an unforgettable memory. My daughter said she can’t wait to go back and visit Mr. Frank at Franks lol. Also, our 6 and 8 year old little foodies gave the food a 10/10 and yes they are hard to please lol. The salmon was cooked perfectly, Mac and cheese was to die for, and my shrimp dish had the perfect spice and flavor! We were disappointed that we didn’t have time to visit one last time before we left. However, we will be back next summer for sure! If you are looking for phenomenal food, genuine service, and a beautiful atmosphere do not hesitate to book your reservation. Lastly the decor, lighting, and ambiance really added to the flare and beauty that is already Franks.”
“A Masterclass in Steak and Southern HospitalityI’ve always maintained that the best way to experience a kitchen’s true talent is from the chef’s counter, and my recent dinner at Frank's and Frank's Outback in Pawleys Island only confirmed that. As someone who takes great pride in grilling an incredible steak at home, my standards are exceptionally high, but the team here exceeded them in every way. We started with the Fried Grouper Bites, which were a revelation—perfectly breaded with a light, crispy coating that allowed the fresh flavor of the fish to shine, complemented by a fantastic creamy dipping sauce. For the main event, I watched the chefs prepare my Bone-in Cowboy Ribeye to absolute perfection right in front of me. The presentation was flawless, and the steak itself was one of the finest cuts I’ve ever had, served with creamy mashed potatoes and crisp asparagus. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. Every staff member who walked by took a moment to engage, and the chefs were incredibly personable throughout the meal. While some may consider it a splurge, the quality of the ingredients and the level of service make it worth every penny. You truly get what you pay for here: a world-class dining experience in the heart of the Lowcountry.”
“We've eaten a couple times at Frank's, but last night tried Frank's Outback for my wife's birthday. Loved it! The atmosphere was wonderful and more informal than Frank's, and a different menu (that includes pizza), and two bars. We were seated next to the wood burning fireplace and it was toasty. Our server, Tom, was excellent. He was attentive and ensured my wife's food allergy was accommodated My wife had the beef short ribs, and I had the crab cakes - both delicious. Can't wait to go back!”
“Based on recommendations from several locals (including one in the restaurant business) I stopped in here to try it out. I arrived during the suppertime rush so the parking lot and inside was very busy. The screened in patio deck still had plenty of available seats. I chose a bar seat so I was brought in immediately. Dined on the conch fritters (excellent), 21 oz Cowboy steak (prepared to perfection) with mushrooms, and a decent salad. My server was Alex who did a fantastic job throughout the meal process. While at the bar I was close enough to watch my steak being prepared. The chef was good at what he was doing. This is a high end price restaurant but it was worth it for my value. As mentioned due to popularity parking on the gravel lot can be quite a challenge so be prepared. Turn in off the highway is quick so be ready for that also. Worth a repeat visit next time I'm in the Myrtle Beach area,”
“The ambience is amazing in the Outback. Food was mediocre. We went over the 4th of July weekend and it was so crowded maybe that is why the food was not as good as hoped! Salads were dry and not of high standard. Steaks were good, cooked as requested but you have to select a sauce or it is completely unseasoned. Grouper fish was overcooked and chewy instead of flaky. Lamb rack was fatty. We returned the lamb and got a different meal. The restaurant was super understanding in providing a different meal. We paid for the new meal and not the lamb rack. They gave us a free desert. We got the caramel cake which was delicious! We will try it again but maybe bowl over the holiday weekend.”
