“Took my sister for her birthday dinner mid-April and it was an unbelievable experience. Attentive service, detailed explanation of the dishes, great quality fish/food and to top it all off they even surprised us with an additional omakase item (with a candle to commemorate the birthday)! We weren't drinking alcohol this day, but the sparkling teas are a MUST try!! Quite a lot of food at a great price, ambience was nice. Will be back!!”
“9.5/10 Dry-aged fish omakase, incredible bites, lovely staff, extreme value for $ (iykyk with their in-house dry-aging) and atmosphere. This is easily worth $175-250/seating. Came for my birthday. Been to many Omakase across the city (Yasu on Harbord, ZEN in Markham, Sushi Kaji on the Queensway). Had the wine pairing + omakase. Super friendly team (James? Jun?). The umami on the appetizer bluefin tartare (lovely texture on the nori and puffed rice) + 4 piece plate (the squid was incredibly tender and perfectly presented) and the dry-aged fish bone miso broth neat the 1/2 point of the meal were fantastic. Standout bites: Kanpachi (torch sear gave a lovely smokiness), Hokate (huge Hokkaido scallops with a deep, clean flavour from growing in cold water) and the Otoro with uni and yuzu edible flowers. The Hokate and Otoro were unreal. Otoro as the last bite was the perfect cap to the sushi course. Fatty, tender Otoro with a perfect dry-aging for depth of flavour + tenderness. Briney Uni to add creaminess and saltiness. Super friendly staff, and totally amplified the meal with their willingess to share their process on dry-aging their fish, and sharing the amount of work that goes into their craft. Oh, the soba and taro ice cream at the end of the meal were delicious as well.”
“Absolutely one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had. From start to finish, everything felt thoughtfully curated and engaging. The chef was incredibly entertaining and charismatic, keeping the entire experience lively and interesting the whole time. The fish selection was outstanding—each piece was not only high quality but also came with a story, which made the experience feel much more personal and memorable. You can really tell there’s passion and intention behind every course. The drink pairing was also excellent and complemented the meal perfectly. On top of that, the atmosphere strikes a great balance between upscale and welcoming. For the level of quality, experience, and service, the price is very reasonable. Highly recommend if you enjoy omakase—this place truly stands out.”
“The omakase menus was amazing. 18 courses and each one was well balanced, fresh, and just layered texture. The staff is wonderful. Food is absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended! :)”
“Shunoko delivers a dining experience that is decent and generally in line with its price range. The food is well-prepared, with clean presentation and balanced flavors that make it enjoyable without being particularly memorable. The service is polite and generally efficient, contributing to a comfortable atmosphere. However, there is some room for improvement. At times, attentiveness can be inconsistent, and a bit more warmth or responsiveness from staff would elevate the overall experience. For the price, Shunoko feels fair—it doesn’t overpromise and delivers a solid, middle-of-the-road meal. While it may not be a top destination for standout sushi, it works well as a reliable option when you’re looking for something reasonably priced.”
