Welcome to Lucky Sushi! The roots of Lucky Sushi trace back to the early 2000s, when its founder first arrived in Canada and discovered the charm of old neighborhood sushi spots. In 2008, the journey of mastering sushi began in a small, family-run restaurant that embodied the warmth and nostalgia of classic sushi craftsmanship. Over the years, this experience blossomed into a passion for blending traditional sushi techniques with a fresh, welcoming twist. Today, Lucky Sushi stands as a place where the timeless vibe of old-school sushi meets a modern, retro-inspired atmosphere. It’s all about recreating that classic experience—warm rice, top-quality fish, and a friendly environment—so that everyone can feel at home while enjoying a perfect blend of tradition and a new wave of creativity.
“Good food, good view! The restaurant is super cute and vibey! Nice interiors. The salmon avocado & chopped scallop rolls were delicious! Service was fast & servers were friendly. I look forward to my next visit! The sunset view was stunning!!”
“This is such an atmospheric restaurant — it really feels like you’re tucked away in a hidden hole-in-the-wall spot on a backstreet in Tokyo. The aesthetic has a nostalgic 80s vintage vibe, with authentic brand banners and decor that really add to the experience. The servers are kind and courteous, and they even ask about allergies when taking your order. It didn’t apply to us, but it’s fantastic that they’re so thoughtful and attentive to their customers’ needs.”
“Great vibes and even better food. The decor is really well done, but the menu is the real draw. If you’re visiting for the first time, get the Lucky sushi plate. It’s a great way to sample the different regular sushi and their oshi studio. The truffle shrimp was my favourite, that plum sauce is incredible. Definitely a favourite spot now”
“My expectations were a little low when reading the reviews but I really enjoyed the food and the layout/decorations! We got the Salmon Oshi, Miso Avocado Roll, Sesame Bomb Roll, Crunch Seared Salmon Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Beef Udon The salmon oshi was great and buttery, the miso avocado roll and fresh, sesame bomb roll was yum, and the crunch seared salmon roll was my favourite!!! The sauce on it was delicious. I can’t handle spice so I didn’t enjoy the spicy tuna roll. The udon was alright, the cabbage felt kind of undercooked and I have a sensitive tongue towards raw vegetables. But the udon was a nice way to end off the meal. Overall the first 4 items I would so so so get again! Price came out to around $111 so $27 per person for 4 people.”
“Excellent service, large seating area, on the second floor with window seating that overlooks English Bay where you can enjoy the sunset. 🌅 We ordered: Assorted tempura - batter is thicker than we are used to and it is quite oily so feels very heavy. Like that there is fish, shrimp, and veggies in the assortment. Spicy cream udon - not that spicy so even if you’re not a fan of spice it may still be ok. Noodles are nice chewy texture, not too soft, not too hard. Sauce is rich and creamy. Tuna taco (2pc) - delicious. Favourite item of all the dishes we ordered. Lucky sushi plate (12pc) - some of the items in the assortment was good. The others not so much. The squid was mushy and did not taste fresh. Some of the cuts of fish were also too fatty and soft. A bit pricey for $42 considering the quality and amount of pieces. The bill comes with fortune cookies. 🥠 The atmosphere, service and nori tuna taco along with the view is what makes this place worth checking out.”
